Is it just me or is anyone else bothered by descriptions of eyes doing activities that eyes don't normally do? For some reason it's almost always jarring (to me) when an author uses a movement verb for eyes that goes beyond the ordinary. "Her eyes danced" might not bother me, but "Her eyes danced across the room"--yeah, that sets off my giggle-reaction. My personal favorite is any variety of sliding--such as "His eyes slid down her dress." (I think that was an actual sentence from a really bad book I once read.) Ew, and hee!
