drowning in fabric and beads

I've started digging through the craft room in an attempt to organize things. It is overwhelming. Some things I'm finding easy to put into various "get rid of" piles: donate to charitable organizations, donate to the art or drama teachers at school, pass along to someone I know... but there's still so much in the keep pile.

Aside from thwarted attempts at organization, I've been rather lazy the last few days. Tried to read Darcey Bell's A Simple Favor, but when the story went from dislikable unreliable narrator number one to loathsome unreliable narrator number two, I was done. So I went looking for spoilers--it's hard to put down a mystery or suspense novel, even a bad one, without getting some kind of resolution. Anyway, turns out it was made into a movie last year. ([personal profile] fleurviolette, have you seen it? Henry Golding is in the film.) I don't know if the film plot follows the book plot closely or not, but reading the summary confirmed that putting the book down was a good decision for me.

I finished Diana Peterfreund's For Darkness Shows the Stars. It's a retelling of Austen's Persuasion, with a future post-post-apocalyptic setting. I have very mixed feelings about the world-building; interesting but uncomfortable would be the shortest and best description of how I feel about the setting.

Edited to add: mild spoilers for the setup now in the comments.
