I've gone to the next level in cleaning the spare room: the old desktop computer has been unplugged and moved (to be disposed of later); all of the TV and internet-related devices have been unplugged, dusted, and plugged back in, with the wires organized a bit better; and the extra lamps have been moved out as well. (Why did I have two extra lamps in there, anyway?)

All of the exercise equipment is in one place, and I'm close to getting the floor cleared. Let's not speak of the armoire, though--the one with the printer hidden in it, and ALL of the paper-crafting supplies shoved behind those doors... okay, yeah, that will be what I tackle next. After getting the floor vacuumed, that is.

I haven't been watching TV lately, which means I've lagged behind on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and there's a whole new season of Jessica Jones to watch, and, er, something else. Whatever it is, I'll eventually catch up. Probably.

Books, though: Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine was recced by an old friend of mine. I can see the appeal for her, but it frustrated me. Eleanor is both neuroatypical and traumatized by her childhood, and the slow buildup to the trauma reveal was not working for me with Eleanor's voice. Also, how is a Millennial so computer- and social media-illiterate? Too much of it didn't ring true to me. So I skipped to the end. I'm not ruling out trying something else by Gail Honeyman, but not this book.

Skipping to the end is a theme right now; I did the same with Alyssa Cole's novella Let It Shine. In this book the leading woman is a black woman in college during the civil rights fight in the US, and the male protagonist is a Jewish man who was a childhood friend of hers (her mother worked for his family), and there's so much to be mined with the setup... but a novella just didn't allow for enough space for the ideas to come to life.

Okay, back to cleaning. I really want to vacuum the spare room and living room today.
