I am obsessively refreshing my e-mail, waiting for my Yuletide assignment. *checks again*
I've been doing the posts for Humanity's Children this week, and today's challenge was to write 250 words or less about a cylon who breaks away from their line. This challenge was, in fact, designed for meeeee. Heh. So: three BSG ficlets about cylons who break away from their line. An Eight (warning for cylon destruction of humanity), a Two and a Four.
There are several other interesting Cylon ficlets in the comments there, so go read and heap praise!
Still no Yuletide assignment?! *sigh* I've been poking around at Youtube because I had a sudden yearning to hear the Verdi theme that was appropriated for the movie Jean de Florette. And then I ended up looking for the scene that ripped out my heart, because I like to torture myself, apparently. From the begining to minute eight has to go in the top five of heartbreaking movie scenes that I've watched.
I went looking because I was thinking of how I've gotten picky about TV and movie scores. Spoiled perhaps by Bear McCreary's amazing music for The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Battlestar Galactica. Lost also had fantastic music, though I don't recall the name of the usual composer. Anyway, Jean de Florette has a very old-fashioned musical score complete with dramatic violins, but it absolutely works for a period piece.
