Most-excellent things:
Coconut curry.

The first disk for season three of Due South arrived today from Netflix, which means I'll get to stare at decade-younger Callum. Nice.

I have a new package of beads here from Fire Mountain Gems. Yay!

My new 2GB mp3 player holds so much music! Perfect for upcoming road trip. (Maybe I should remove the They Might Be Giants songs so I don't torture my mother.)

Disappointing things:
Sadly, the living room still isn't self-cleaning. Neither is my car, nor the kitchen...

Nutella contains lots of calories. Rats. (And, um, I may have consumed part of the jar by using a spoon, a habit I acquired in France.)

There are no fic ideas in my brain right now that I feel like writing. I have three unfinished ideas languishing on the computer.

LJ is alive, just quiet. I myself don't have a whole lot to say. Maybe writer's block also includes commenting?

But I'm with you about the writing. Only I have lots of ideas and actual time to write for a change, but none of the ideas are good.

Cleaning the living room is actually sounding kind of . . . interesting right now.

Is Due South worth watching? I mean, for more than just CKR... which sounds crazy, I know.

And yum on Nutella, and ignore any calories. They don't count if you eat them via spoon, says me.

And what mp3 player did you end up getting? I want to get one but don't know if I should go ipod or other.

I am slowly getting back into the LJ thing. I have SO much to catch up on it's crazy. That aside I'm glad it's not completely barren.

How is fire mountain gems? Have you bought from them before. I am a huge beader and am always looking for different places to buy stuff. I went to the web site and ordered the catalog. Any kind of jewelry making will suck your paycheck. It's horribly addictive and yet one of my favorite activities.

oooh nutella. mmm...very fatty and full of calories but so good in peanut butter and nutella sandwiches (with bananas to make it even tastier). I need to stop thinking about food, lol. omg...I took a 2 min break after writing that last sentence to look up Elvis' favorite sandwich. *sigh* anyways, enough about food.

*sigh* So frustrating, isn't it. I'm offering prompts for free now if you want. *g* (Two for the price of one, hee!) Anyway, I suppose I ought to be grateful because if I were in the middle of a fic that I want to write, it would just have to wait until I finish the road trip anyway.

As for cleaning, I think I'll go clean the inside of the car in a few minutes (and count that as my exercise--it involves stretching and bending, so it should count).

I bought a Sansa m250. So far it's great, but I can give more details after the road trip. What really helped in choosing the player was making a list of what I wanted most: easy-to-replace battery power because I travel places where it's not always easy to charge up; a recorder function for when I have a brilliant fic idea while driving (seriously, it's amazing I haven't been in an accident, considering how many times I've tried writing on a notepad while driving); FM tuner so I can listen to local radio broadcasts; 2GB of memory, which means 32+ hours of mp3-formatted music, easy to navigate menu and quick uploading of music...

After I made the list I started looking online at different stores: amazon.com, Bestbuy, Circuit City. I looked at their listings and noted stock numbers, then did searches for reviews. I kept finding the Sansa listed and it met all of my criteria and is affordable. Reviews are mixed--lots of love, some frustration that it dies an untimely death. I finally decided that since it comes with a year-long warranty with the company, it was worth the risk. (prices listed range from $50-70)

I did go into a real store just to get a good look at it, and found one more different mp3 player in the store, at the same price, with the same features. I finally decided to stick with the Sansa because you don't have to download any software to your computer to use it--just plug it into the USB port (cable provided, although it's a standard USB connection), click and drag.

In my opinion iPods have two drawbacks: 1) price and 2) the battery. The batteries are ridiculously expensive to replace; but I like having the independence of a AAA-battery powered player. No worries about finding the charger or looking for a plug. OTOH using an iPod means you can actually play music downloaded from iTunes. (Apple has proprietary programming on their music downloads, so unless you're a whiz at computers you can't play music from iTunes on non-iPod mp3 players.)

Wow, I have lots more to say about mp3 players than I thought I did. Heh.

I've been ordering from FMG for years; they're reliable and friendly. I've mailed in orders, phoned them in and now ordered online. They have good prices and an excellent selection; I definitely recommend them. If you go to the main menu you'll find there's usually a link to a sales section. I have way too much fun browsing there.

Ah, food. I love leftover curry, although my tongue will be burning after I eat it.

Yay, cleaning the car as exercise! I'm going to go do that. As for prompts, the thing is I have too many ideas right now. It's confusing. I have vacation coming up too. So cleaning it is! Nothing like a spic and span place when you get back.

(I'm not above bringing a notepad on the plane if an idea strikes me. :-))

Heh, I was commenting to pataka02 that I've used notepads in the car--which wouldn't be so bad except that I was driving at the time. But yes, somehow long spans of enforced inactivity (like sitting in a car or on a plane) seem to kick the creative process back into gear. (My new mp3 player has a microphone built in, so I can record stuff now, rather than trying to write and drive at the same time. The world is a much safer place now!)
