hey, I used to talk about TV here

Spoilers for Person of Interest 2.19 "Trojan Horse" and some other recent episodes:

I haven't posted about Person of Interest in a while, though not for lack of interest. Just real life stuff. And there's a smidge of 'not quite as excited' mixed in there as well, I'll admit. So if that's not what you want to read, skip this first part.

Beecher's storyline ended this past week, and I'm somewhat disappointed in it as a whole. It wouldn't have taken many changes in the writing for me to like his part in the story more than I did, such as not making him act like a controlling jerk with Carter. Going back and forth about whether or not he was working for HR I can deal with, but even if he's the most perfect cop ever, I'm not going to want him around Carter if he's a hot-headed jerk who overrides what she wants. Grabbing her car keys and announcing what he can't let her do? NOPE.

And Shaw: I do like her better in small doses, although I wouldn't yet go so far as to say I'm fond of her. Which is a shame, because I loved Shahi's work as Dani Reese on Life.

Also, STAAAAAAAANTON! I miss her.

The biggest recent factor in the show slump for me has simply been less interaction between Reese and Fusco, and Reese and Carter. I think the writers must have made a concerted effort through mid-season two to get the team working together well, and now that it's been established, and they have other plot-related things to take care, the crafting of interactions has fallen by the wayside a bit... and I miss it.

Fusco needs a whole lot more screen time to make up for the recent lack of it, aie. I think he's been completely absent for two episodes for these post-prison episodes.

And now the usual mostly-pleased flailing in random order about this week.

I liked Monica Jacobs quite a bit. Her interactions with both Reese and Finch were enjoyable; Bear got plot-related stuff to do, and Reese actually had a smile on his face while teasing Finch about his competency kink in connection with Monica.

Ooh, and Fusco's 'chat' with Beecher in the men's room. Eeeeeeexcellent.

Return of Elias and his chess set, hurrah. I really liked both of his times onscreen. Beecher was an adorably naive puppy. His godfather Alonzo Quinn is COLD. If Simmons thinks you're cold? Yeah, really cold.

I like Carter's growing relationships with both Finch and Fusco. Fusco especially, although you'd think by now that giving Carter a warning about what not to do is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. (I'm pretty sure I've said exactly this before, in fact.)

The mysterious Mr. Greer shows up again, getting Monica's boss to kill himself. Greer wants to know who the individual is who penetrated his system. And we get the information that the worm Greer had Stanton introduce was probably meant to target the Machine. Dun dun DUUUUUNNNN!

The pieces are in place for a wild season two wrap-up; hopefully Reese will actually talk to Carter and Fusco at some point before the end of it. *sigh*

Suppose Fusco will live through this one? (Heh, I had to bring it up again, since I was doing a Fusco death watch last season. And he lived! To my great surprise!)
