appy to see you

My family has started using the app Marco Polo to stay in touch. It's great; visual confirmation that my loved ones are doing okay. Some women from my church congregation are also using it--we did our own gospel study Sunday using the app.

Work has started using Zoom and Webex for meetings. We're figuring out how to best offer online learning opportunities, and waiting to see what's next. The current "official" restart date for going back to campus is unlikely to happen; we all know it, but there are lots of decisions that can't be made until, well, time passes and people get sick. Or not. So.

I did go out for some groceries: three different stores with three very different experiences. The first store had an employee counting customers as they came in. Also, employees were spraying and wiping carts for customers to use. It wasn't overly busy even with all of that. I didn't have to wait to go in, and the line had only two people (standing far apart) when I left. Store number two had a very long line outside the store; I decided to skip it. Not sure if they had someone counting, or if anyone was cleaning carts. Store number three had nobody counting people, nobody wiping carts, and inside was a weird mix of empty and full shelves.

I snagged a package of kale seeds at store number 3, which saves me a trip to yet another store. They only had one variety of kale, but since I've never grown kale before, that's probably fine. I don't like raw kale, but it's a good addition to soups. We'll see if I can get any to sprout here.

Not having much luck with the cucumbers yet. They should have sprouted already; I'm not sure what I need to do differently if I try to replant them. Same with... okay, I don't remember which row was lettuce and which row was cabbage. One of them sprouted just fine! The other didn't.

Actually, I should stop typing and go check again; I haven't been out there much lately. The temperature dropped just enough that I didn't feel like spending time in the garden the last three days.
