Good point about Abrams and inexplicably powerful characters. Also noteworthy: those characters are always played by white people. Abrams wanted John Boyega in the sequel trilogy (good choice), but Finn didn't get the magical power-up that Rey did.

I actually snorted out loud the first time I read that prosperity gospel line. I quoted it today to my Star Wars-loving co-worker, who was also amused. (We met for lunch in the otherwise empty cafeteria and sat at separate tables so we could talk about The Mandalorian.)

I haven't watched any of Rebels yet. Given that my month of Disney+ is almost up, I won't try it soon... but there will be a next time.
