icons, formatting woes, fic recs
I really hate it that the only reasonably-priced legal way to get episodes of Farscape is through iTunes. I want to have my dad watch, and I have no idea if burning a disc of episodes would do me any good at all, considering iTunes' proprietary software. *sigh* I'd love to convert the episodes to DVD format, but I'd even settle for something that could be played on his computer. Anyone know anything about this?
And as long as I'm asking for information, how about changing WMV format to... whatever format DVD's use. Eventually I'm going to have to either invest in more memory for my computer or get this season of Battlestar Galactica converted into something I can watch on my DVD player.
End of whine/demands for help. Here, have something different. That icon meme comes back to my journal...
The rules:
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five (or four or three) of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!
I've done this meme before, but now I have lots more icons! So I had to do it again! Here are the five icons
nicole_anell chose for me:

This was one of my first icons ever. It's a photo of a statue in the Louvre. I liked the expression on her face; it's useful for all kinds of comments.

Matilda! From the book by Raoul Dahl (illustrations by Quentin Blake)--I wanted an icon that showed someone reading so I could add in the text.
natalexx used the term once when I commented on a post of hers about books, and I thought it was apt.

This is actually a screencap of Callum Rennie in Due South, but he has a very Leoben expression on his face. We all know how much I like Leoben around here, right? The text seems to fit his character.

Aww, Miss Parker. I snagged this icon because I wanted one that expressed humor; and because I just love Miss Parker. She's a character on the show The Pretender. It was appointment TV for me. Hey, it looks like seasons one and two are available at hulu.com. I have a sneaking suspicion that the show won't hold up well on further inspection. But way back when--and it isn't all that far back, actually--I was madly in character love with Jarod. *sigh* And Miss Parker is just awesomely terrifying.

I grabbed this picture from a Sam picspam on
cujoy's LJ. The quote is from the movie Serenity--I misremembered it at first as "Can't stop the music," which seemed to fit poor Dylan Four Sam. It still works okay with the correct quote, I guess. Plus, Sam is very nice to look at.
Fic recs!
palmetto has written not one, but two Boomer/Apollo fics. (Or Sharon/Lee. Whatever.) They're both fun and sweet and actually a wee bit convincing that this pairing could work, heh. AU Earth-fic, light spoilers for early season four.
Turn a Little Faster (Lee POV)
Spin a Little Tighter (Boomer POV)
There have been several nice BSG fics lately, actually... and you can see what I've bookmarked on my del.icio.us page with the bsg:fic tag there.
I'm always finding stuff that I've forgotten to bookmark. Must do better!
