BSG ficlet: Mathias
I might actually have a fic done (or almost done) for the
femgenficathon. Only, um... two weeks late. It's going to be about Racetrack. Yeah, that would be the third fic idea I worked on. Hm. Hopefully I'll actually finish the other two ideas sometime soon-ish.
In the meantime, have a ficlet with Gunny Mathias. (I'm still working on the Jean & Erin fic.)
Sometimes she wondered if anyone knew her first name anymore. Her original files had been on Pegasus when it was destroyed. Knowing the Galactica command, they'd already written up new records, but if no one looked at them, who would know what she was called other than Gunny?
To be honest, sometimes it was easier that way; Erin was a name for family, and like everyone else's, hers was gone. For a moment she almost laughed at the thought that any new records might have been eaten during the famine, but this was the military--they probably had another marine guarding their precious bits of paper from starving civilians.
Too bad her memories of Pegasus couldn't disappear as easily as her records. She'd been trained to follow the chain of command; on Pegasus that meant not ever thinking about what she was ordered to do, because Admiral Cain wouldn't tolerate a hint of mutiny. Erin had seen crewmates die for questioning commands. She was still alive; that meant she was compromised.
