- Great!
- Good
- Alright
- Could be better/could be worse
- Poorly
- I thought about writing here and there.
- I didn't get any writing done. (Either taking a break, or had some plans that day.)

Our next travel stop was the Newport area and our hotel at Agate Beach. There was some fog the day we arrived but the next day dawned completely clear, giving us great views of the nearby lighthouse.

So, what are your plans for next week?
- Finish a WIP (whether it's a oneshot, a fic for a challenge/fest, or multi-chapter fic)
- Start a new project
- Get some editing done
- Take a break
- I have some plans that are other than writing.
Our prompt for August is quick breads! Traditionally quick breads are muffins or loaves leavened with things other than yeast and made with a batter rather than a dough, but this is gluten-free country and nothing's traditional, so let's just take it to mean these are breads (or bread like things) you can throw together quickly.
To fill this prompt, you can:
- Slide into the comments of this post and share a link to a recipe, product, or resource and why you like it.
- Write up a favorite recipe and post it to the comm.
- Post a review of a related product or cookbook to the comm.
- Try someone's recipe and reply to their post (or comment) with any changes you made and how it turned out.
And, a reminder, you can now tag your own posts!
So in the meantime, did you write today?
- Yes
- No
- I've thought about it here and there.
- Too busy to write right now.
- I'm currently taking a break.
- Planning/Outlining/Researching
- Writing
- Proofreading/Sending it to my beta-reader
- Editing
- Posting the fic/chapter right now!
- Great!
- Good
- Okay
- Could be better/could be worse
- Had to rework the fic because certain aspects weren't coming together.
- Too exhausted/busy to write right now.
- I'm taking a break from writing.
The term for all of these shows in Mandarin is zongyijiemu (綜藝節目) which I most often see translated as “variety show”, but seems to be a term for any kind of unscripted TV. I’ve used the term reality show here because that’s what I’m more familiar with and what I think will be more familiar to Lady Business readers.
Reality shows are a bit of a sidestep from my love of Chinese dramas. I got into these in part because I wanted to see my favorite actors in other contexts, and because I wanted something that worked for me to watch in short chunks, but was low stress. I have RSI problems with my hands and it helps to take frequent short rests, and these types of shows work well for me as things to watch in my hand breaks. These shows tend to have quite long episodes (over an hour) and I would have trouble watching an episode in one go but they work for me in smaller pieces.

Any who, have you written anything today?
- Yes
- No
- I've thought about it.
- Taking a break, or life got in the way.
Hi!
it's Legends week again, and our discussion topic is the novel https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Dawn_of_the_Jedi:_Into_the_Void, a 2013 release that explores the Jedi Order before it became the Jedi Order.
(You might have seen "Je'daii" mentioned in fanfic, this book and the Dawn of the Jedi comic series is where that's from.)
Have you read it, and would you recommend it? If you haven't, are you interested?
In case you don't have anything to say about it: are you interested in the ancient past of the Star Wars universe, or is that something you don't care about? If you could choose the era where the next SW movie will be set, what would you chose, and why?
Are there any cool events or challenges happening that you want to hype?
What do you just want to talk about?
What have you been watching or reading?
Chores and other not-fun things count!
Remember to encourage other commenters and we have a discord where we can do work-alongs and chat, linked in the sticky

Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like
Fandom(s) involved: if you know at this point
What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.
What you could offer other participants yourself: ditto!
How people should contact you: DW message, e-mail, IM etc.
Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you
Copypaste below:
The post for hosting the daily check-in is here and thanks to everyone who helps out with this. If you're interested in helping out and there are still slots available the post remains open until the last week of the month and we generally run our week Sunday to Saturday, I'm happy to chat via PM on DW for anyone who might need it.
If you have ever completed a fic through this challenge we have a collection on AO3 and on SquidgeWorld both collections are open and unmoderated. Should there be an issue with adding a work, let me know and I'll see if there's a fix for it.
