short skirts and skinny legs

A few weeks ago a colleague and I were discussing teen fashion (the horrors!) as one is wont to do when one sees a nightmarish parade of clothing every day. She pointed out that a few boys, in hopes of getting an extremely skinny leg look, were buying and wearing girls' jeans. Today I finally noticed a boy doing that. (Thank goodness he wasn't in my class otherwise I would have felt like giggling every time I looked at him.) He was tallish, average build, legs tightly wrapped in denim... with a nice pooch of extra fabric over his tush. Wahahahahaha! Ah, adolescence.

I won't just pick on the boys, though. For the girls: I'm very glad I was never into wearing leggings, at any time. Seeing them again now makes me shudder but at least I have no personal history with them. But I will confess, one of my favorite things to wear in high school was a white button-front shirt with a men's tie. Yeah, I was way out there, baby. Sooooo extreme. *snerk* All of this has happened before and all of it will happen again. Unfortunately.
