random thoughts while "organizing" the bookshelves

Why do I have The Physicists next to Jane Eyre? (Jane is probably wondering, too.)

How is it that I have five unfinished workbooks from Spanish classes, three books about French language and culture and an Italian phrase book, and they are nowhere near each other?

Appropriately enough, I do have Three Men in a Boat next to To Say Nothing of the Dog.

DB will be happy to know that I found a copy of Wuthering Heights.

Books... too many books... drowning in books.

Happily, I have found the Netflix envelope so I can send back Ultraviolet disc one and get disc two now. (Oh! Also figured out where I'd seen the character Angie March before. She's played by the same woman who played Jane Bennett in the BBC version of Pride & Prejudice.)

I think the books are out to get me. Books I haven't read. Books I've only partially read. Books I've read before but neglected since... I can feel them staring at me as my back is turned...

Help! HELP! HElllhalphrglleglug...

Yay, books! And Wuthering Heights! At least you and I will be discussing it! Oh, and the first two chapters are soooo annoying. I don't care about Lockwood. Get to Cathy and Heathcliff, already! Ahem. :-)

I shall commence re-reading, sir! Er, ma'am! (Huh, BSG just messes with titles something fierce, doesn't it?!)

Hee! Well, if it's fun for you! I worry I'll be the only talking about it. :-/

I'm curious, because I'm willing to bet I feel very differently about WH than you do. You saved my copy from being toted to the book resell shop. Heh.

OH! I found an X-Files/THT crossover: Gilead (http://www.thechicagoloop.net/yahtzee/brackets/bracketfic/Gilead.htm). I was never into X-Files, so it didn't interest me, but maybe you'll enjoy it.

That was a wonderful story. Utterly compelling. I couldn't stop reading. I don't know how you found it but it was such a gift. Two people I know and care about in this horrible situation. Thank you so much!

*hugs*

More "I just found!" stuff:
Get me off this freaking moor! (http://beatonna.livejournal.com/109102.html)--featuring the (writing) Bronte sisters. Very funny.

Although I just realized that I may be in a teaching conference when you make your book post. Sorry! If that's the case, I'll come out and play when I'm done.

Hee! Thanks for that. And drop by when you can. :-)

Mhmm, yes. I can feel mine judging me when I turn my back. They must dislike my method of organizing by 'short book goes next to short book'. :)

And I found Wuthering Heights too! Though it seems to have wandered off again just now...*dives in*

I'm pretty sure that's how Jane ended up next to a bunch of insane men who think they're famous physicists. Oh dear. There are a lot of other bad combinations hanging around on the shelf...

My copy of Wuthering Heights was actually in the get-rid-of pile. (Don't tell DB!)

OMG! Ultraviolet!

I *love* this series. Have you watched it before? I was so impressed with how clever it was and how it really demanded that the viewer pay attention. I remember when I first saw Season 1 of BSG, it reminded me of Ultraviolet in this one particular way. Except that Ultraviolet wasn't on the air long enough to go wrong. Very tightly written. It did not disappoint.

I did watch it before! It's been so long, though. I'm thoroughly enjoying it this time around, along with a RL friend. My only complaint is that with the accents and British slang, every once in a while I'm totally lost in the dialogue.

...Ultraviolet wasn't on the air long enough to go wrong.
I think it was always intended to be only a mini-series.

Yes, the Brits seem to do that with their shows sometimes. I remember the show "Jekyll" was like that. I'm always torn though. The method turns out some *great* storylines, because the writers know the beginning, middle and end at inception. But then, it means the whole thing is over too soon. :)

Enjoy your rewatch!

Hee! I feel your pain.... I'm just now taking a short break from "organizing" my own books, although I'm only trying to get them off the floor and onto the bookshelves.

I'm only trying to get them off the floor and onto the bookshelves.
That's what I finally did as well. It was too overwhelming otherwise. Thankfully I found a wee bit of space (after much shifting and a few books added to the give-away to friends/family pile).
