I fought the mall and the mall won
Farscape first! So, I liked episodes one through ten, but it still wasn't must-watch TV yet. I skipped episode eleven--the online reviews seemed to indicate that it wasn't that great, and not really necessary for character development. My attitude changed during episode twelve, 'Rhapsody in Blue.' That's the one centered around Zhaan's powers being borrowed/taken by another Pa'u priest. I enjoyed it and it felt natural--the flow of the story, the use of characters; it all finally clicked for me. Also, I'm amused at my highly-shippy reaction to what turns out to be a flashback--John is with the woman he loved before he joined the space program. I'm not used to being so interested in one pair--I was extremely annoyed at this unknown female for interfering with John and Aeryn's One True Love that they don't know about yet. Then I realized she was from his past, not in the present. Hee!
'The Flax'--John and Aeryn's first kiss! It was both sexy and awkward--I *love* that! Someone falling in love with d'Argo! Hah! Still maintaining a nice balance for the episode.
eta: I skipped 'Jeremiah Crichton.'
'Durka Returns'--ah, this is a prime example of why I shouldn't be skipping episodes, since we learned a lot about Durka earlier in season one. First introduction to Chiana; I knew she was on the show, I just wasn't sure when she'd arrive. Huh, she kinda has chemistry with everyone. This will be interesting. One thing that's impressed me a lot with Farscape is that the alien cultures really are different. Chiana's body movements, the Nebari ethic that everyone must conform; lots of other examples if I took the time to think about them.
Do we ever find out if Durka or Chiana killed the Nebari prison guard guy? I'm assuming it was Chiana, but... we still don't know how Durka broke/resisted his programming. I suppose he could have done so before the Nebari's death; my assumption so far, though, is that Chiana killed him, allowing Durka to then get past his reprogramming.
Shopping. *sigh* Usually I go on a new-clothes shopping spree in late July, because of the clearance sales. Things are marked down quite a bit right now, though, and more items are available in my size. So I shopped with some friends at an outlet mall today. My feet hurt. I'm tired of trying on clothes. But I did get some cute items for reasonable prices, so yay me!
Oh! One of the stores we were in had this device that scans you (as it spins around you) and spits out your measurements. I didn't really want to know that the fullest part of my bust was *that* small, but it is nice to have some precise information. Well... somewhat precise. The machine thinks I'm a good inch taller than I thought I was; I'll have to ask my doctor next time I'm there to find out what height measurement is on my chart. We each got $5 coupons just for agreeing to be measured, and I had already found a dress I was planning to buy that was on clearance. So I paid almost nothing for it when I used the coupon. Whee!
In unrelated news: it looks like I should be able to watch the mid-season finale of Battlestar Galactica tomorrow during the day, since it's streaming online at the top of the hour from 9 am to 4 pm (Eastern US time). That gives me plenty of time during the day to wrangle with whatever software updates I may need in order to watch the episode.

And isn't it the one that ends on John saying, "Just to make it clear, you *are* the female of your species, right?
:D

Ooooh, yes, I love the way she moves--very different. :)

Hee, yes it is! So amusing! And Aeryn's little smile after John leaves the room. aww...

Glad to hear you're enjoying Farscape more and more. It just keeps getting better as it goes, in my opinion :)

As for Farscape, lots of people have told me that it does keep getting better, which is why I persevered when the first episodes didn't totally hook me. Thanks for the encouragement!

Farscape has its up and down moments but overall it gets better. I just re-watched a silly S2 episode last night because I haven't watched any Farscape in a long time.

I'll never tell!
The other season 1 episode that has a lot of repercussions is PK Tech Girl. You've got Durka, Gilina, the Zelbinion, Nebari foreshadow, John/Aeryn pre-ship....
And I LOVE The Flax :)
Like everyone else, I can only say that the show gets better...until season 4. Yes, I'm a bit of a hater when it comes to 4, but others LOVE it so it's just a matter of preference, I guess.
Have fun!

Yeah, I've stumbled across some general disdain for season four. I have a ways to go before I decide if I'll watch it, though.

I don't know where you were reading, but, 'Till the Blood Runs Clear has character and plot pieces that echo all the way through season three.
And Chiana's movements are a product of Gigi's dad owning a circus. She's awesome.

Ooooh, cool!

Hm. I may go back and download it. I'm on summer vacation, so it's not like I'm worried about the time I'm spending watching Farscape. Thanks for the information.
