Eclipse (of my sleeping pattern)
Went and saw the new Twilight movie last night: Eclipse.
It was mostly enjoyable, and most of that enjoyment was not at unintentional humor. That was weird.
I wasn't fond of the Edward-Bella-Jacob triangle, but since I didn't like that in the books either, this isn't new. Edward and Bella had some genuinely sweet moments onscreen. This is a good thing, as my current tolerance level for Robert Pattinson (the actor who plays Edward) is at a very low level. He's spouted off so many condescending things about not just the series, but Stephenie Meyer as well. Dude, don't bite the hand that feeds you. Ugh.
Anyway, so yes--quite a few of Edward's onscreen moments were pleasant. And didn't make me want to burn him into ashes. A few other moments, however, he seriously annoyed me. Plus Robert Pattinson has a big head, and it's distracting. Thankfully his Cover Girl makeup look was toned down quite a bit, and the sparkly skin effect looks good now.
Okay, on to other things. Kristen Stewart is definitely a good choice for the role of Bella. She has not only the right physicality for it, she's managed to make Bella into a much more sympathetic character. Though I should also give props to the writers for this--the movie as a whole worked well, and toned down some of the less-savory moments from the book. (I'll admit that I don't recall much from the books, however.)
Nearly any moment with any character besides Bella, Edward or Jacob was interesting and cool. Leah Clearwater barely had a moment onscreen (too bad, I like her), but the brief bits of backstory for some of the other Cullens helped the pacing of the movie, as did the Quilete story-telling.
The fight scenes were cool.
Favorite character: Charlie's mustache.
I would actually watch parts of the movie again. *boggles*
I AM SO SLEEEEEEEEEEEPY. This whole stay up late thing to watch a movie is not going to become a habit. Though it was fun to watch with the opening night crowd. Does it sound condescending if I say that the young fans were really adorable? I saw two Team Edward shirts (too bad none were Team Edvard shirts instead--by the way, I sort of want to buy that), plus a lot of other Twilight paraphernalia. One girl was wearing a wolf hat. Hee! And the clapping at certain kisses and hurrahs and so forth made the experience a blast.

Um let me know when you are coming back round the Seattle parts. I'm staying there a lot so there's a good chance I'll be there.

Yeah, it's quite easy to do if you're as spaced out as I am :D

Opening night was fun! I've hardly ever done that.

I'll still probably see it, but there's something about opening nights that can make anything more awesome. Maybe it works the same way as live music > recorded, because you're getting the full experience. :)
