I was a substitute Sunday school teacher today for the class of six and seven-year olds. Hee! They're so unintentionally amusing. I'm glad I'm not in charge of them every week, but it was a fun change from attending my own classes (although we're studying the New Testament, and I do love that class). I got to wear my new brown skirt--it's the girliest brown skirt ever. Eyelet, a ruffle at the bottom... and it's practical because it's full enough to make it easy to move and the non-eyelet parts are (deliberately) crinkly so it doesn't need to be ironed. wait... this was supposed to be my religious-life post, not another girly post. oops

General bit of information for people who aren't me: my church has a lay clergy. We don't have paid ministers or music directors, etc. So when I say I'm the choir director for my congregation (called a ward), no one should be under the false impression that I'm getting money to do so, and that I'm, er, actually trained in directing music professionally.

Also, the choir doesn't sing every Sunday. Everyone sings each Sunday, lots of congregational hymns. I'm in charge of choosing the songs for Sacrament (communion) meeting time. After church meetings are over we have choir practice most Sundays and perform about once a month.

Anyway. I've had minimal music training, with nothing specifically about conducting a choir. I'm a great follower in choir--I've been a choir member for years. (Choir is usually open to anyone who wants to be a member.) Luckily everyone who comes to choir has been patient with me and the very-musical people are willing to give me tips privately on how to improve. Today in practice we ended up changing some of the dynamics on a song with everyone's input and it just sounded so awesome. Being in charge of the music is a wonderful yet nerve-wracking kind of experience.

non-church stuff:

Taking a break from the fic today. Over 4100 words and I'm still not done. This story is going to require massive amounts of editing before I let anyone else see it. I don't know why my brain decided to go epic over a character who's appeared in seven episodes. *shakes head in disbelief* (Okay, 4100 words isn't really epic, but for me, yeah; it's the longest thing I've written thus far.)

Am feeling quite picspammy. May have to post pictures soon. (I was thinking travel photos rather than handsome men in the media... plus I posted all of my good CKR pics in the comments on [livejournal.com profile] lunar47's page the other day anyway. So go look there. (Wow, internet is slow today.)

Sunday naps are sooooo nice.

Go read Like Rogue Unicorns (the head!baby crackfic) by [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell because it's hysterically funny. I don't usually enjoy fic with Gaius or Six but this... hee! I particularly enjoyed the scene when they tried couples therapy.

you make my brain hurt with your 4100 words. I've been sitting here staring at this hole in my fic which must be filled tonight so I can post it tommorow. I cannot write Kara/leoben while watching Over the Hedge. It simply isn't possible. lol

Hee! I'm giggling that you even tried. Dude, you need way more angst/creepiness than that.
