day 29 of favorite female characters
We're almost at the end! I'm also in a terrible rush, so I'm typing this directly into the 'post entry' screen...
Meg Murry wins the second-to-last post about favorite characters. Madeleine L'engle's books were favorites when I was little; Meg never got relegated to childhood, though. I could (and do) relate to her: her loving parents, the self-esteem issues she had, the determination to do was necessary to help her family.
In fact, the Murry family books are sort of responsible for my earliest fanfiction: I remember writing a story in middle school with a heroine who had a striking resemblance to Meg. The plot was all about good versus evil as well, andMeg my original character saving the day.
I'll have to look for that sometime. I have a suspicion that a copy of the story might be in a box in the closet. (I'm thinking it may well go back in the box once I locate it and read it again.)
Anyway, Meg: a wonderful character, rich and well-written. No pictures today; I haven't seen any TV or film adaptations of Meg's books, so the image I have in mind is purely my own.
