and I'm taking a shortcut right now

Anastasia Dualla, aka Dee: religious? Agnostic? Atheist? Discuss!

umm...

Agnostic, with moments where her faith made her hope that Earth was real.

I was leaning toward agnostic as well. Good point about Earth. I've been thinking about a fic but not rewatching pertinent episodes. Mostly because the pertinent episodes make me feel like crying.

Good question!

I go with "spiritual" over "religious." She believes in the Gods, but she doesn't believe in all the stuff that goes with it. But I'd honestly believe any of the three of them.

Interesting, thanks!

I always saw dee as quietly religious. Not ostentatious about it but someone who did pray and was familar with scriptures.

Hm. I'm leaning more toward agnostic with some religious beliefs that she hasn't let go of entirely.

That might be what I am thinking and not expressing well. :)

I always think of Dee as someone who grew up with religion as a huge part of her life--parents very devout, perhaps she was devout, as well, when she was young--but that she's moved away from it as an adult. But I imagine her as continuing to be very sympathetic to religion, perhaps continuing to practice quietly, or at least not being willing to come out and say she doesn't believe. I've always imagined, for instance, that part of her motivation for helping Roslin the times she did was because of a respect for--whether it went all the way to belief in--the idea that Roslin was fulfilling a divinely appointed role.

I definitely agree with the sympathy toward religion; I don't think that her disdain for the Sagitarron views on medicine extended to a disdain for all religions.

Hm, I'll have to think about that. Maybe rewatch the election-stealing scenes again... I seem to recall that she helped Roslin get out of the brig before that, even.

I think she was somewhat religious, but with frequent moments of doubt/agnosticism. She believed in Earth, which was a religious notion.

Thanks for your input! :)

I imagine raised religious but I remember her holding a negative view of the Sagittarons being superstitious and anti-science/medicine. I'm leaning toward her having some faith but being moderate or agnostic about it.

As someone else said, though, I could buy any of the three since it was never addressed on the show.

Yeah, I think at this point I'll feel free to write what suits the story. Assuming this story ever gets written...
