day 30 of favorite female characters
I'm sure some of you who know me well were wondering which other female character from Battlestar Galactica I was going to choose. The problem is I couldn't choose; instead, I'm paying tribute to almost all them. Warning: image-heavy.
Let's start with the characters played by women in the opening credits: only four actresses, but they play a wide variety of roles.
Six: Caprica, the Six who lives in Baltar's brain, Gina, Natalie, the Six who killed Barolay, the Six with the pretty brown hair...

Eight: Boomer and Athena (who shared the name Sharon) are the named Eights.

Laura Roslin: Even Roslin has multiple titles, if not multiple names: Secretary of Education, President, teacher, cancer survivor, politician (in the best and worse meanings of the word), Pythia, cancer victim, the voice of the people, the face of treason...

Kara Thrace: I've already written about why I'd want Kara Thrace on my side in a fight (posted to
awesome_women). Instead I'll list some of her titles as well: pilot, lover, victim, sibling rival (sort of), pseudo-daughter, survivor, follower, leader, wife, martyr, angel, frakkup.

Moving on to other women.
One-hit wonders:

women who worked for a better world that they didn't get to see:

mothers:

women with pretty hair and pretty ships/guns:

epic villains who inspired loyalty:

women who asked inconvenient questions:

women who dreamed dreams, saw visions and prayed:

women who did their jobs with no fanfare:

brilliant creators and traitors:

and of course, the shape of things to come:

Oh my show! My first online fandom and I still have so much fanlove for it.
This was really hard! I tried to avoid being too silly. Then there was hunting down the right screencaps, and then I had to limit myself! I could do a whole picspam of Kandyse McClure's beautiful, expressive face, for instance. Or of the adorable girls who played Hera at various ages. Or...

You actually brought tears to my eyes with "women who worked for a better world that they didn't get to see". Sigh.
On a different note, when you wrote: and we don't see much of the unnamed Eights, either...... my mind immediately jumped to the naked-yoga!Eight that Gaius sees on the Cylon ship. We actually saw quite a bit of the other Eights! They were so often naked.
You've done a wonderful job with this meme, and I plan to go back and read again and again. Much love, m'dear.

This is a great picspam. All of the women. Now I want to watch my vid again. I love the Quorum women as well. :-)
Oh, and Sarah Porter. She was very memorable.

I really liked the second (I think?) Hera. She was so solemn and vaguely creepy, which seemed fitting. Heh.
