short book post

A friend gave me a copy of E.M. Forster's A Room with a View. The problem is that I know the movie adaption--I know it really well. (I used to have it on an old VCR tape; now I have it on DVD.) So... is there another Forster book that I might enjoy reading? I'm worried that the satire in his prose might be too subtle for me, but there's only one way to find out.

Speaking of books, I did finally finish Remake, by Connie Willis. Excellent prose, as always. I prefer Bellwether, though that's partially the Sandra/Ben shipper in me talking. Thinking about it, I would have prefered Alis's story instead of Tom's POV. So if you're a completionist and must read ALL the Willis novels, go for it. If not, eh. It was okay.

Still in the middle of Inheritance, by Christopher Paolini. My current non-spoilery reaction: Nasuada! It's a very long book, and I'm not even reading a chapter a day on average, so this may take a while.

Why has no one else posted any Zoe Morgan/John Reese fic? Is there a hidden stash somewhere? Do I need to know the secret code?

A Passage to India is not only the best Forster book, but one of the best books out there, period. Howard's End is also good, but India is better.

THE SECRET CODE IS BATMAN<3CATWOMAN

or maybe it's "ONE MORE BUTTON"

Hee! But I tried BATMAN<3CATWOMAN and it didn't work!

I'm scared that if I write more of them, it's gonna get sappy... which is just wrong.

I was going to write it for the porn battle, but I didn't manage it. (I didn't manage a lot of things for the porn battle)

Is that over? I never know these things.

Yeah. Although if you have an AO3 account, you can add as much porn to the collection as you want. Apparently.

I have read them, yes! Very enjoyable. Though my favorites by Willis are:
1. Passage
2. To Say Nothing of the Dog
3. Bellwether
4. Doomsday Book

Possibly in that order. Or possibly not--it depends on the day. :)

If I find any Zoe/Reese fic, I'll definitely alert the presses. After I finish shrieking in glee.
