seriously, muse?
Over 1000 words of fanfic written... from Don Moretti's POV. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME, MUSE?! I don't understand why I should be writing about murderous old gangsters.

Fic progressing more tonight due to last-minute cancellation of lesson by piano teacher. So... maybe it'll get posted this week.

Maybe because bad guys are always the most interesting characters? Hmmm????

Usually writers don't have any idea how to write complexity for "good" characters. Especially female characters. I swear, if I see one more storyline where the only way the lazy writer could figure out to give a female character "drama" or "depth" was to have her be raped, I will scream!!!
(Sorry, pet peeve of mine for oh, probably the past 20 years. Goes all the way back to Miami Vice and Hunter and Hill Street Blues and, hell, every show ever on TV it seems...)

(In fact, I was very hesitant about the whole "kidnap Taylor Carter" storyline because it hits some of those same buttons. Though I ended up quite liking the episode, in part because the writers didn't go the usual route with how that was addressed.)

I think we all do. I've started thinking of it as a sign of shoddy writing staff on a show.

The way the wrote it I think the kidnappers were lucky that they only had to deal with Reese. Carter would have gone all Momma Bear on their asses. Reese was clearly the less dangerous option as far as rescuers go. Yep, very satisfying episode as far as Carter storyline IMHO.

Heh. I wouldn't go quite so far as to say Reese was the less dangerous option, but I did enjoy having the male (who isn't even related) DO ANYTHING TO SAVE THE KID while the woman (who was characterized within the same episode as having those mother bear tendencies) was stoic and principled.

Eh, sometimes. I think a good writer can make anyone/everyone interesting. Though I think it's harder to translate that well to a visual medium (TV, films). I wonder how much of that is because we can't get to all the interesting stuff in people's heads and how much is due to actors who relish playing villains--someone unlike their ordinary, mundane selves?

I only say that because I might be working on an Elias story myself....
