the spare room update

I decided to stay in this evening and work on clearing some space in the "spare" room. (If you have ever lived in a place with a spare room, you can probably guess what this environment is like.) So far I've found:

  • notes and handouts from college courses--completely unrelated to what I actually teach now

  • a binder with supplies related to what I do teach--full of transparencies (ahaha) (somewhere in my school building there's a room full of dusty overhead projectors)

  • a spiral notebook with some unfinished handwritten fanfic--including the ominous line "The leeches knew all about Vaughan's feelings for Angie." Hee. (I kept all of the Angie/Vaughan fic notes. Maybe something useful in there?)

  • a homemade kangaroo costume, probably last worn in the 1990's

  • several National Geographic magazines--selected to keep for now-forgotten reasons

WHY DID I THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO STAY IN AND TACKLE THIS MOUNTAIN OF TERRIFYING JUNK?

:-) The Angie/Vaughan fic notes amused me the most.

I try to label my junk and I often remember why it's there. But sitting there is like sitting in a timewarp. I can remember, not writing the note, but the year and the time and what I felt when I wrote it, but suddenly it's years later and I'm not that person anymore. I understand her without being her. It's odd to have that feeling when reading unfinished fanfic but I do.

Now, was the kangaroo outfit child-sized? Aww, now I feel like he's like Woody or Buzz about to become part of a yard sale. :-/

The kangaroo costume was me-sized. And as it was a rather makeshift sort of costume anyway--and hadn't benefited from being stuffed into boxes for the past several years--the pieces were disassembled and put into various piles (re-use, trash). Sorry, kangaroo!

I haven't given up hope on Angie/Vaughan fic. Especially since I'm stuck on popcorn fic, so perhaps working on something entirely different would be a useful exercise. I have, on the other hand, given up on ever finishing fic about Three/D'Anna. Also, my two crossover stories with Martha Jones. *sigh* I may post one of the Martha crossovers, and just delete the other files.

A kangaroo costume!?!?!

And I thought my Minbari head was a weird thing to have in the spare room.

I'm pretty sure a Minbari head still wins the weirdness contest. ;-P

I don't think I have any pics of me wearing the kangaroo costume, though if I find any, maybe I'll post them. maaaaaaaybe

Poor NG magazine. Such beautiful pictures, but I honestly have no idea why I was keeping that particular pile of them.

I'm about to go tackle the last bit of the mess. I'm feeling very productive. :)
