one last post from this side of freedom

Today's random bit of advice:
To all of the fanfic writers who feel the need to post an explanatory comment about your story, please note the following: bear with me is the expression you want to use. It means... have patience, work with me... you get the idea. It's what you intended to say. Unfortunately you typed "bare with me." Whether I know you or your work from previous experience or not, I have no intention of removing my clothing while you do.

I'm sitting here giggling because [livejournal.com profile] pataka02 bowed to my will finished the ficlet I started. Hee! Ever wonder how Leoben reacted when he found out that Baltar and Kara had sex? Go read here here, actually to see one possibility. *cracks up again*

Speaking of crack, [livejournal.com profile] bsg_crack is a new comm dedicated to BSG fanwork of the crackish sort. I'm anxiously waiting for their crackfic list to be posted; maybe there's some stuff there I haven't read yet.

Hee! Ah, the Homonymn. I too have been victim to its poison. But not a naked victim. Hee.

Hee, this is an excellent point. I think some writers when thinking about which word to use consider either "bear" as in grizzly, polar, etc., or "bare" as in naked. And they prefer nakedness to being mauled to death.

At least, until the grammar police come and take them away. I refuse to read a fic where someone is grasped by the "waste" and not the "waist" because... ew.

Those grammar police... too bad they're busy taking care of awful-fic so they can't police the merely-confused fics. heh.
