from one feel-bad show to another

Taking a break from The Magicians (made it through 3.01) to return to The Expanse. So: still halfway through season one. Holden, Naomi, Amos, and Alex are my precious dumbasses in space. Currently they're doing yet another ill-advised noble space trip. Detective Thomas Jane Miller has grown on me; beating him to a pulp and almost killing him has made me slightly more fond of him. His hair is still stupid, though.

Chrisjen has the very best voice. I can't even describe it. But I love watching her amble in her saree, grandchild in tow, threatening other powerful people with that throaty, calm, deliberate voice.

Yes, it's deep and noble and somehow so very peaceful even in the midst of chaos.

I really liked season 1. The finale reminded me of Farscape *a lot*. It's gotten to a point where it's so ridiculously over the top that I started laughing at it instead of finding the drama harrowing. ;)

Ah, sorry, I didn't want to spoil you, I thought you said "rewatch".

I usually find the setting very atmospheric, especially the space stuff. (And yeah, that exploration of that spaceship was very scary for me, too, I remember that.)

I generally did take the show seriously, it was just that one ep that started overdoing it imho. But I love (some of) the characters, and the intricate plot and especially the worldbuilding. I think it shows that there is a book behind it, it feels deep and colorful compared to the usual tv standards.

Miller isn't my favorite but that is a very nice userpic you used.

I always imprint on the men (sorry), and he's definitely the most fascinating of those, I think. I like the broken types on shows. Definitely more interesting than the other main guy, Holden? I'm good with Amos, too, but he's not smart enough to really grab me.

But there are female characters I like, too. The mechanic lady whose name I've forgotten is my fave.
