So the change of course continues. It's a bit of sad irony that the show is yet again giving a significant chunk of storyline to actors Steven Strait and Thomas Jane; their characters aren't my favorites. Also, Strait is super pretty! But in my opinion, he's not as strong an actor as some other cast members. Or maybe it's just the writing? IDK.
Anyway! It's a good thing that I already liked Elizabeth Mitchell in other roles; so far Pastor Anna isn't getting to do much that makes her feel vital to this story. I like the character, because, well, Elizabeth Mitchell. But now that we're moving on from the abbreviated war, she needs something more to do than just be a witness to events happening around her. Maybe.
Naomi and Drummer have a fascinating mutual support system that makes me wonder what they went through together before... and now we're splitting them up?! At least if Naomi gets back to the Rocinante, she can make Holden more bearable. Not because she makes Holden different, but because at least if she's onscreen at the same time as Holden, I have more patience for Holden-focused storylines.
(Again: is it the actor? The writing? I just don't know! I feel like I'd need to see Strait in another role before I make that judgment call.)
Alas, if Julie's sister is hell-bent on vengeance against the man that she views as guilty for taking down Jules-Pierre Mao, this means I'm stuck with a Holden-focused story for a while. *sigh*
The good (for varying values of that word): we're moving forward with protomolecule storyline. Eeep. But again, the drawback to that is a protomolecule-designed "Miller" hanging around with Holden. I'm not necessarily bored, but... I'll just say that I'm really missing Bobbie and Chrisjen right now.
