Random evening post before bedtime

I love that song "All Creatures of Our God and King" in the hymnbook at church. Since I'm currently in charge of picking music for our sacrament meetings we sang it today. Lyrics by Francis of Assisi--cool! Music by Ralph Vaughn Williams--awesome! And the real reason I love the song--it has some of the best alto lines in any hymn we commonly sing. It's interesting, melodic and about nature! Okay, I'll stop gushing now.

eta: can't decide if I should sing with the choir in Handel's Messiah this year. Rehearsals every Sunday between now and Easter--hard to commit. Singing it--amazing. So much better than just listening to it. Oh, for anyone who is thinking we sing the whole thing--nope. Just the more Easter-y parts, just over an hour's worth of music with the orchestra and solos included. /eta

Two thoughts semi-related to the badfic I posted earlier.

One: I posted it before church this morning on purpose, so I could get it out of my brain. It seems to have helped. I actually had an idea for the (third and final! hear that muse? final!) on-Earth fic that ties together some of the stuff I've already written. And none of it involves clothing or Kara/Leoben.

Two: Just out of curiosity I went to fanfiction.net and looked up Harry Potter stuff. I wasn't planning on reading any, I was just interested to see if it was any good. So I randomly did a search there by the character Fleur delaCour. Oh my. I didn't even read any of the stories, just looking at the posted summaries was... enlightening. Here are a few summaries:

title: Harry Potter and the Ship of Dreams. HarryFleur. One of my first fanfics. What would happen if Harry Potter and his new bride Fleur DelacourPotter were on the Titanic, and what if the Titanic was a ship for magical people only? What would happen if the ship hit the iceberg? Many Deaths.

hee!

title: true love. After the war harry still feels incomplete. Is the answer to his problem the unfullied part of his life.

unfullied?

title: Hand in Hand. Confusion and depression often walk hand in hand. Nonslash, Harry is depressed after Sirius's death, the beginning of book six. Written in a new, stranger format.

Erm... what does stranger format mean? Am I supposed to be enticed by this?

There was a point to this... Oh yeah, that now I don't feel nearly as guilty for my shamelessly self-indulgent stupid fic. It's still stupid and self-indulgent, but now I can feel superior and smug about it anyway. Yes, I cackle with glee that my stupid and self-indulgent idea doesn't suck as much as someone else's.

*headdesk again for the umpteenth time today*
*ouch*
