humming that familiar tune
I've backed WAAAAAY far away from Star Wars stuff recently but took a peek yesterday. Apparently, the novelization for The Rise of Skywalker comes out tomorrow, so there are--naturally--leaks. Which means that angry fans are busy doing the angry fan thing. I'm not even sure what any of those leaks are, just that there's a FUROR. Or whatever.
(I have no intention of buying the novelization. I'm just a wee bit amused / horrified that an as-yet unreleased novel based on a film that has been in theaters for months is capable of creating yet another firestorm.)
But! I'm not here just to say, "Hey, there's a mess, dunno the exact contents, though." In this mini-spree of looking at Star Wars stuff, I found one of the best analyses of the sequel trilogy that I've seen / read.
WARNING: the video editor uses shots from various media sources, including The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, so there are a couple of gruesome moments.
Um. I'll admit, I'm now a wee bit curious about what the novelization contains. Still not gonna read it! But if you know a link with a reasonably short summary about the main elementsthat are making people mad, I would read that.
edited to add: found a photo of a page from the novelization. Hm. I still don't get the big reaction. Especially since there's not a lot the author could do with the material given. *shrugs shoulders* So... never mind. Fans really are just doing the fan thing.

Time for me to back away again; I've honestly felt pretty upbeat these last few days, not knowing what was going on with SW fandom, or with a lot of other stuff. (I think my brain was in major "GIVE ME A BREAK" mode after grading a ton of audio files submitted by students. Hence the "peek at the wanky side of things" backsliding that I did. I've been avoiding a lot of it these last few days. Getting back on the wagon now!)

So it's not "official" commentary of any kind that the kiss was platonic, just some money-grubbing media-associated site doing their usual worst.
(I felt like the Rey/Kylo relationship in TRoS was way less romantic than I feared, but I still hate it that they went there. Bleurgh.)
