Worth a read: John Boyega's interview with GQ. John Boyega: 'I’m the only cast member whose experience of Star Wars was based on their race'

The pull-quote title is click-bait, and of course people aren't bothering to read the article for the actual context before pulling out their, "But Kelly Marie Tran! But Oscar Isaac!" rebuttals. In context, Boyega's statements are accurate and devastating.

And now back to work. It's that season.

John deserves to call out Disney and Star Wars every day and get credit for it. Seriously.

Agreed. His comments in the article were blunt and honest, but even with that, he could have gone so much harder, and been completely justified.

It's disheartening; I haven't rewatched TFA in years because with the further context, it's just not the same. The excitement I had back then has been replaced with a deep cynicism about Disney-owned Star Wars.

Yeah, I mean I'm always here for Rogue One and I'm still fingers-crossed on The Mandalorian buuuuut it's not like I'm getting the ST on DVD or buying any merch (more like about to *sell* some of my merch when I get around to it).

Yup. I gave away my Finn and Rey lego keychains because they didn't spark joy anymore.

Rogue One! A winner from the Disney Star Wars vault. I wanted to rewatch it when I had my month of Disney+ but I ran out of time. But it's one of the first things I plan to rewatch in my future subscription--whenever that may be.

I'm keeping my Funko Pops for Finn, Jannah, and Val - but Rey is on her way out (and has been for a while). I have two ST Funko Pops given to me by a student as a thank you, and I'm not inclined to give them away because it was a nice gesture, but - yeah. Just doesn't spark joy!

Sometimes I'm like "Was Rogue One worth the ST disaster" and then I remind myself I don't want to needlessly force myself into that Sophie's Choice situation.

John deserved better. He was supposed to be one of the leads of the new trilogy. It’s bizarre that Disney dropped the ball, among other things.

Even Rise of the Resistance has a better coherent plot than the sequel trilogy. It’s a dark ride. 🙃
