diversion needed

A bit stressed. Amuse me by telling me two truths and a lie (about yourself) and I'll make a guess about which statement is the lie.

1. I have traveled south of the equator.

2. I've fired a handgun.

3. I walked up 300+ steps to see the belltower of Notre Dame.

So, make a guess about me. Post your own three statements. Or just tell me something cool. Or tell me what movie I must see that I haven't watched yet. Whatever.

Hmmm, maybe #1 is the lie?

Ok, here are three about me:

1. I once very briefly set my hand on fire in a drinking game.

2. I have lived in Mexico with my extended family.

3. I can play the guitar, piano and drums, but I don't know how to read music.

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2008-08-23 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
from my statements: #1 is not the lie! *g*

Yours... Um. I'm going to say that #3 is a lie.

[identity profile] millari.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! This was fun.

As for me, #2 was the lie, believe it or not. I have a pretty good ear, and never really learned to read music in any way to actually follow it properly. I have to sit there with sheet music and carefully parse out each note, making the process so incredibly tedious as to be useless and so as to make me comfortable saying that I can't read music.

Btw, you gonna watch "Life" again when it comes back soon?

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ack, I was fooled by knowing a bit of your family history. (Well, mine was tricky that way too. I've certainly been to Notre-Dame of Paris, but I haven't climbed to the bell tower. I've climbed up other cathedral bell towers, which is where I got the number 300.)

Guitar, piano and drums--impressive! Even if you can't really read the sheet music. I totally get that, by the way. I can't sight read music other than "this note is higher than the previous note, so I'll sing higher." Heh.

Yes, I'm going to watch Life when it comes back on!

Ooh, fun. My life is boring so I can't participate. But I think I know you! You haven't fired a gun. Have you? Hee, I lied already, I am participating. Here you go:

1. I can't swim.

2. I'm double jointed.

3. I once shook a soap opera star's hand.

Gosh, it's harder when I'm boring, huh? Guess the lie!

Yes, I have fired a gun. At a shooting range, while on a date. That was the only time, though.

okay, yours... I'll guess that you're not actually double-jointed.

[identity profile] daybreak777.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
So three is the lie? How interesting. And no, I am not double-jointed. I'm not even sure what that really means. You know me well or I'm a bad liar! One of those. :-)

Hope it distracted you, though. I still think the handgun thing is pretty cool. We all have teeny bit of Starbuck in us. And that's a good thing. :-)

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, my date who took me to the firing range was British. I think he really wanted to return to the UK and say that he'd fired a gun in the US. (They're much more restrictive than we are about firearms.)

And yes, I was distracted by the fun guessing. So thanks!

Oh, and yes, #3 is the lie. Though I've been to that cathedral before, I've never climbed up to the bell tower. Too much experience climbing other bell towers, so I know how hard it is.

I'm going to copy [personal profile] millari and guess #1, too.

Okay

1. I once had dinner with the Mayor of a tiny village in Brittany.

2. I lived in England for a year, and I got to go to Stratford for what they call a Henriad - they put on Henry IV Part One, Henry IV Part Two, and Henry V all in a row. I had to stand in the back for the entire day, but I still loved it.

3. My second 'real' kiss was from a slightly scary-looking homeless guy who was REALLY happy about the money I'd just given him and got me before I had time to react. It was actually a lot better than my first kiss. ;)

I traveled to Ecuador a few years ago. Even have a picture of me standing at the equator. Nice try, though!

Yours: I'm going to say that #2 is the lie. (Though I really want #3 to be the lie, because that's just weird. *g*)

[identity profile] frolicndetour.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you're good. I thought for sure all the details would make it sound true! Foiled again. *G* It's a real story, just not mine.

(My romantic life has definitely improved as I've gotten older. *G* Not that that's saying much)

So where have you been South of the Equator? I should have guessed that you've been everywhere, since you're LDS!

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I should have guessed that you've been everywhere, since you're LDS!

Yeah, but the only church-related traveling I've done was my first time to France. But possibly the interest in learning languages came from that time period, which is why I went to Ecuador. Spanish lessons. Plus... Ecuador! Cool! Blue-footed boobies! Eating guinea pig! Oh! I should've used that for one of my statements. Hee! (It doesn't taste like chicken.)

[identity profile] njborba.livejournal.com 2008-08-23 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so bad at guessing these things but I'll pick number 2 *shrugs*

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2008-08-23 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, sorry! Thanks for trying, though.
