Hey, fellow Kermit the Frog fans! I'm sure it's been pointed out before, the remarkable number of similarities between Kermit and Christian Bale, but if you were doubting, here's the proof.

Been super-busy lately but I did start reading this book: Walking the Choctaw Road, by Tim Tingle. (It's also available through amazon.com. I've mentioned my own Choctaw heritage before, but you don't have to have Indian ancestry to appreciate these stories. Mr. Tingle chose eleven traditional stories to include in this collection. His writing voice matches his story-telling style very well--they're easy and compelling to read. (I met him this weekend! He signed my book! And I'm such a geek, but it was super-cool!)
Onto the random...
Some Doctor Who recs:
Awesome fanvid character study of the tenth Doctor here. Music: 'Handlebars,' by the Flobots. This vid's been recommended all over the place lately, so you've probably already seen it, if you're a DW fan. (I'm amused at how compelling I thought it was, considering I haven't even watched the episodes with the tenth doctor yet.)
Here are some Doctor Who mini-fics, done in the tradition of the Edward Bullwer-Lytton writing contest (one sentence, purposely overwritten).

I have no idea if this fic actually works with what happens in the show since I've only seen the Ninth Doctor and Rose, but it seemed excellent to me even without knowing a lot about that stuff. Huntsman
Um... really, this recs list is mostly for me--when I finally get around to seeing more than just season one of New Who, I might want to go back and re-read/re-watch all of this.

I've been reading SVU fic, since you sent me that link!
I hope we get to talk soon; I miss you! I know you're super busy with work and RL, but hopefully things will settle soon. I also wanna check out the Kermit link, but don't wanna risk my spotty internet connection.

*laughs* I don't know what's so attractive about Doctor Who fics since I haven't watched most of the show. Maybe because so many of them are light-hearted? I haven't actually been seeking them out, just reading the ones I've stumbled across. (Hunting down fics will probably come later, when I've watched more of the show.)
I miss talking to you too! Can you use AIM with the bad internet connection you have right now? (And yes, I've been super-busy lately, but that should even out a bit soon... right? *pokes gingerly at RL schedule*)

Hee, I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes starts reading fic without having any real concept of the show... but do you really like the show? I've never watched a full ep, but the parts I've seen didn't really appeal so much to me...
Meanwhile, I decide to get attached to SVU and the land of sadness and angst and nothing ever really happens to change the characters. It seems hopeless! Or maybe a little too similar to BSG. Hee.

Excellent!

Yeah, I do like what I've seen so far. I started at the beginning of (new) season one via Netflix. I may be biased in the show's favor simply because I can remember watching versions of it as a little kid, with my dad. I really do like the basic concept, though--an alien and a human travel around the universe, through time and space, and have cool adventures. Not much romance because the show is very subtext-y, but fun character development. Plus, cool chicks helping to save the universe really works for me. *g*
