mah reaction, let me show you it
Battlestar Galactica this week (4.12):
Okay, I'll write this up before reading anyone else's reaction. Mostly because I'm curious how my own thoughts and feelings will vary from everyone else's.
I thought this was an interesting and necessary episode, and reasonably well-done. Of course the fleet will have people rebelling against a cylon alliance that they feel is being forced on them. People like Felix, who have suffered personal consequences from interactions with the cylons will have a particularly strong reaction to this. Poor Felix! He's going to get himself in trouble, but he's doing it out of a passionate response. Felix and Tom Zarek--yikes. That's a scary collaboration, and one that's going to cause a lot more than just discomfort in the fleet.
Adama's blind spot for Colonel Tigh is going to cause problems. The XO is a cylon. That's all some people will be able to see.
Interesting how Tigh and Tyrol are adapting in fits and starts to their cylon identities. As for their side stories, Tigh was a lot more affectionate than I expected with his cylon baby mama. Tyrol... oh boy. I'm having such a hard time accepting that he would so easily relenquish care of the child that he's raised as his own all this time. Also: Hotdog?!? Really? *snickers*
Baltar calls for their Father to be held accountable and basically denies the existence of a god. This is not surprising. I can see it as an evolution of his thoughts from before.
Laura Roslin... again, I'm torn. I get why she feels this way, but this isn't the time to give up. Ack.
For an episode with hardly any Kara, no Sam and no Leoben, this episode held my attention well. I think it did a good job at showing a balance--those strongly opposed to a human-cylon alliance have very good reasons for their views. Those who favor it can perceive why this is, ultimately, a necessity for the fleet.
That really must be the last of Three/D'Anna. 'Earth' is apparently far behind now.
I haven't seen the advert for next week's episode, so try to keep that out of any comments here, please. Especially if the Sci-Fi promo monkeys were up to their usual stupid tricks.
Okay!I may add more stuff here after I read other people's posts, so... watch this spot. (Or not.;-)) Eh, I think I'll just go comment everywhere else.

Yeah, and my God Feelix, do you never learn? WHEN have any of these alliances EVER worked out for you? Baltar? Sweet Eight? Even Helo? Best case scenario you lose a limb, worst case you get thousands of people killed. Again. That said, it does make total sense and I can't blame him at all. *bites nails*
I can see it as an evolution of his thoughts from before.
Oh, good point. God makes us perfect --> We're too good for God. I was having a hard time with it because I saw him as head-Sixes pawn and I don't think she'd be happy about that.

Felix's alliances... dude, I hadn't thought of it that way--that he's been hurt in some way by each of his political moves. Oh, poor Felix.
no subject
*snerk* My feeling is less "oh poor Feelix" and more "dude, will you never learn", but yeah. The sad thing is he's always trying to do the right thing - someone else pointed out he's like the tragic flipside of Helo, who acts in similar ways yet is always vindicated by the script. But it's not just Gaeta who is hurt by his political moves! It's not his fault, but had he not helped Baltar secure the presidency, lots of people would be alive who aren't. Not to mention all the people he involuntarily sold out to Sweet Eight. One thing I liked about the webisodes was that they explicated what I've always sort of suspected about his blindness being partly willful - because how else could someone who knew Baltar so well idolize him to such a degree. And now Zarek, someone else he's worked closely with, (and who signed Gaeta's death warrant!)
Of course, part of my frustration is that I'm pretty sure he's about to a bunch of characters I really like killed. ;) I'm actually most worried about Cap Six's baby - they need to get rid of it for Ellen and for Hera to be special, and the moment with Ishay foreshadowed someone trying to kill it, I think. Plus, Tigh was smiling and we all know that can't be allowed to last.

Awwwwww...

This makes a scary amount of sense. I watched the webisodes, but not with a lot of attention, and I'm not sure I ever saw the 'big reveal' episode in which crazy-Eight tells all. I'm sure I read about it, though, and it really fits with this idea that Felix's lack of insight can be attributed to him and no one else.

Obviously. *g*
No Seelix this past week! Which makes me hopeful of her living a little bit longer! (If she's in the 'previouslies' at the beginning of the next episode, I'll just curl up and cry right then. Heh.)

It's funny how charcter-centered we all have become. Each review I've read talks about the favorite character, whether they were in the ep or not. So interesting. You know where my mind was in this ep. :-)
I was confused about D'Anna. I guess they really did leave Earth and her on it. And Chief got elected representative of the Cylons? I blame money. They can't afford Lucy and CKR as guests. I can't believe she stayed there, though.

I KNOW! I didn't even mention Lee in my post, but some people on my LJ reading list could only talk about him. Heh.

But no Lee yet! Maybe I should look at your reading list! I'd love to hear what people think about him, especially since he wasn't even in this ep too much.

Hm,

I am forced to use Kara/Lee icon because I've already used all my Lee alone icons.

Yeah, this one's gonna be bloody, y'all. I completely see where they're are coming from, but so many of my favorite characters are in peril now! *whimpers*
Tyrol... oh boy. I'm having such a hard time accepting that he would so easily relenquish care of the child that he's raised as his own all this time.
Hmm, I had a different take on that scene, but then I still really like Tyrol. I do think that they are going to show Chief cutting his ties with humanity, but I got the impression that he took pity on Hotdog there and decided to start Parenting 101 for Idiots. He's already beat the crap out of the guy, maybe now's the time for them both to have a little space to deal with their respective issues. I vote for co-parenting, not least because it would amuse me!

It was a really good build-up... which means that the fight is about to turn physical and nasty, yes. *hides*
As for Tyrol, he and I are in a better place than we were in early season four, but I haven't completely forgiven him. ;-) The co-parenting idea has many hilarious possibilities... but Hotdog! Honestly, I have to tell myself that Cally was drunk. Heh.
I liked Cally!

I have kind of thing about Chief and his bag of issues, but it's very vague and rambly and does not belong here ;) Early season four with Cally was hard on the Chief-love for me. And very hard liking both of their characters quite a bit. All my character-love eventually conflicts. :(
The only way Hotdog won me over was when he looked up all earnest (and, let's be honest, an idiot) and asks how long he should stay there. Oh, Hotdog. *Snerk*
I imagine you might have seen this interview that Mo Ryan did with RDM about the episode, but it's pretty good. He comes off very oblivious about how the Cally thing would play, but she asks the right questions. Also some good state of the fleet stuff and no spoilers that I could see, or I would have run away from it.

Yes, it's getting to be quite depressing. Ack!

Hee... oh, dear. (yes, he's an idiot)
I had seen other links to the interview but I hadn't read it yet. Heh, I kinda love Mo Ryan expressing her displeasure over Cally getting dissed liked that.

Ron wanted to make it Figurski! :cringe: We got off easy. :/

I like the Jammer idea. It actually adds some layers to the big mess.
