I watched too much TV. It's an odd and temporary thing.
It's a good thing my Netflix account includes the livestream option, otherwise I'd be paying money for not much activity. I've had a dvd from them, unwatched, for a month.
I watched it tonight. DUUUUUUUUDE.
So. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. That's like... my own personal catnip. I realize I'm late to the party, but that was amazing and intense and... a bit too violent for me, especially the pilot episode, but WHOA, there's Sarah being amazing as a mother, a tough guy and the source of future-John's strength. There's Summer Glau as Cameron, who is NOT just another River. And Ellison, who I root for and hope fails simultaneously.
I think the advertising (topless Summer Glau with strategically placed hair) made me uninterested. This is definitely not a show with a hyper-sexualized main female cast, however, even though Lena Headey and Glau are both beautiful and have the popular-in-Hollywood skinny bodies.
Hopefully we won't spend too much time at the high school. John Connor isn't as interesting to me as the other story lines--except for his interactions with his almost-stepfather, which I enjoyed. (And hey, wasn't that guy the one who also played Kyle Reese in one of the movies? I never saw any of them all the way through, except for the first one, and that was a really long time ago.)
Interesting that they're making Cameron less socially adept in episodes two and three than she appeared in episode one. Ah well. Just a minor glitch in the plot, and I'm not too fussed about it right now.
I watched all three episodes on the first disk tonight. This means I have to send it back before I can get more. Oh, and I'm still supposed to be writing my Doctor Who fic. (That's the show I've been watching through Netflix on repeat this past month--the episodes with Martha.)
Don't spoil me for later episodes, please!
Jamie Bamber was on Dollhouse this evening. I know a lot of the basic premise, simply because so many people on my livejournal reading list have been watching it and writing about it. So... not surprisingly, I was creeped out by it. And not in a good way. I get that it's supposed to be commentary on some of the ills of society, but I just found it disturbing. Though Amy Acker was absolutely fascinating, and her part of the story is interesting enough that I'll probably read future posts about the show just to find out where that goes.
Oh, and Jamie Bamber and Tahmoh Penikett were looking quite nice. That's about it. Heh.
I also watched Flashforward online. Yup, that's right--I watched five hours of TV tonight. Apparently my brain has decided to make up for the last... three weeks. Or longer. Because all I've been watching is Doctor Who, and not much of that. Anyway, I thought the episode was reasonably well done and I'm interesting enough to check it out next week. Comparisons to Lost are inevitable. Especially since some of the cast is from the other show. (Penny!) I was pleased to see Jack Davenport, even though he was only onscreen briefly and had a lamentable hairstyle.
So the frustrating week is over, and I've capped it off with what amounts to a TV marathon. Now I think it's time to get some sleep. *yawns*
Oh, and look! I've reacquired personal pronouns since my last post! (I shouldn't be allowed to post while grumpy. Hah.)

The advertising for that show was awful and didn't do it justice. SARAH. She's such a badass heroine. I can't even. The pilot inconsistency with Cameron is always a minor glitch for me, because yeah, for the rest of the series her character develops in a much more machine-like, low-social-skills way. I forgive it, though, because it's much better the way it turns out and Summer Glau is awesome at it.

Summer Glau does an amazing job with the role of Cameron... and for me, it's not just a retread of River--although I can see the similarities.
Dollhouse was... eh. Watching for Jamie Bamber with his natural accent was about the only reason I could manage it. Oh, and there's a brief appearance by another Buffy/Angel alum besides Amy Acker--Whedon just loves his little acting troupe.

YES! I'm glad to see this statement, because I was hoping it would continue/wasn't just a fluke of the first three episodes.
Oh! I did buy the very first episode of Fringe from amazon.com, out of curiosity. This reminds me that I need to watch it this weekend.

Yeah, the advertising wasn't really calculated to catch people who would actually continue to watch the show once they'd seen it. Sigh.
I *meant* to watch Dollhouse last night. Maybe I'll try to catch it on Hulu... But yeah, the premise doesn't really grab me either, what with all the characters being either temporary personalities or evil, apparently. Hmm.

Hah! I hadn't thought about that aspect, but you're right. Clearly the women were all wearing too many clothes most of the time to keep the audience they attracted from those promos...
Did you ever watch Dollhouse last season? I can't remember right now. Um, mostly I'm asking because I'm curious if the Amy Acker character annoys you, since she's still played by Amy Acker but is obviously not Fred.
