My love for Kara Thrace, with pictorial evidence

shah_of_blah had a holiday wish: 8. Just keep talking about Kara Thrace. It was the motivation I needed to finally finish this post--I've been working on it for ages.

Somehow people are unaware that my favorite character on Battlestar Galactica is Kara Thrace. I have no idea how this might have happened. Ahem. Anyway, to rectify the misunderstanding, here are several reasons why I think Kara Thrace is awesome. With pictures to illustrate.

She's why I started watching the show in the first place. Yes, really. While channel-surfing I watched part of 'Kobol's Last Gleaming II' and there was this totally awesome blonde chick who got into a huge fight (she's tough!) ...



...for some totally-not-a-phallic symbol artifact...


...and then let out a shriek of despair upon learning about cylon Sharon (she's vulnerable!). I was hooked. Add in the Kara & Karl Caprica Buddy Cops show and I bought the mini-series and season one just from watching this episode.


Kara saves herself. And the handsome princes, too.






She's one of the first to learn to accept the cylons as being something more than just the enemy.



She shoots things.

Kara has a spiritual side.


Kara has cool accessories.






Which are totally not phallic symbols, nope.






She's fiercely loyal.




Kara is innovative and intelligent.




She fights until she can't.


That smile




She cared about Kacey--


--even after learning the truth.


She's not afraid of a little mess.




Mythology! Daphne to Lee's Apollo... (sort of)


...a bloodthirsty Persephone...


...the phoenix rising out of the ashes...


...the dying dead leader who leads her people home...


She is God. Or an angel. Or... you know, I can't even begin to guess right now. But that's okay, 'cause she's totally awesome.

Yeah, Kara managed to be a lot more forgiving of other people/robots that look like people than we might have expected, considering how implacable she could be.
