Wow, unstructured time off means I goof off a whole lot. Ah well. Structure returns soon.

Been reading some good fanfic. The BSG/ST:NG crossover Going Native by [livejournal.com profile] rapfic is really interesting. [livejournal.com profile] lunar47 recced it to me. Thankfully my dad is such a Star Trek nerd that I know most of the crossover references. (It's more BSG than Trek, in my opinion, so if you know the basics of ST: Next Generation, you should be fine.) Oh, I'm also very interested in Half Life by Ring Red on ff.net, recced by [livejournal.com profile] pataka02. It took me a while to get into it, but now I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment.

And for you Kara/Lee fans, you're probably aware of these authors already, but [livejournal.com profile] shuchong and [livejournal.com profile] suffolkgirl are writing ongoing multi-chapter fics, both of which are lovely in their own ways (and both AU, set before season three).

I haven't tried much fic outside of BSG yet, but I ran across a Buffy-Angel writer, [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat who writes the most amazing stories. I just finished reading These Songs of Freedom, a Xander story, post-series. He's in Africa to locate and train another slayer. It's beautiful and I can't say enough good things about it. (It's also complete, with 26 chapters.) The story that brought nwhepcat to my attention, though, is a Xander and Illyria story (with Wesley too!), seven chapters so far. The author is posting a new chapter nearly every day.
