TV: "The Killing" day 3, more Fringe
Day three of The Killing was a good continuation, although I'm still pretending the bits with CKR aren't happening. Mostly because I'm probably going to dislike somebody in that relationship by the end, and it's frustrating. "Just until the weekend" and there are thirteen episodes?! So this is going to happen again. Either her boss will push or she'll stay on her own, but either way, we're likely doomed to have more uncomfortable phone conversations with these two.
I want "How Sarah and Rick met" fic now. CKR was pretty adorable as Rick in the opening episode. And the joking about Candy Cane was cute. I want fic, with Linden being stoic and Rick getting past her armor. Apparently the novelty of Rennie the non-creepy boyfriend is REALLY INTERESTING, in spite of his brief screen time.
Moving on. Apparently Rosie went into The Cage willingly with her former boyfriend. The ensuing sex includes one of his friends, and we don't see consent on Rosie's part (although we also didn't see the whole video). Oh, Rosie. Bleh, creepy ex-boyfriend is now even more horrible, as is his drug-dealing friend. (Did we actually see Rosie's face in the video? We saw the pink wig on the girl...)
Holder: "I never had dinner with my mom, and look at me." (I'm not sure of the exact wording there. Going by memory.) Hah, thanks Holder. That's so very reassuring.
Richmond gets his endorsement. More of a politician than we might have thought from the first two episodes. Jamie appears to be the mole in his office, but we still have ten more episodes after this, so a frame job is possible.
Richmond's wife is dead? Murdered? Hard to be sure at this point.
Mitch Larsen broke my heart again. That bathtub scene... *sobs* It's almost hard to watch the Larsen family's grief.
Fringe: spoilers through 2.15 "Jacksonville"
2.13 "What Lies Below" has Peter under the sway of a virus. He runs around in his tank top, smeared with fake sweat.
Um. Did other things happen? Oh yeah, he almost died and Olivia saved the day and in the beginning Walter was telling children horrifying stories about theoretical monsters under their beds. Heeeeeee!
2.14 "The Bishop Revival" The one with the still-living Nazi who goes around releasing toxins in the air that are targeted for specific human traits. The Nazi is dead by the end (thanks to Walter), so it was never revealed that he's apparently long-lived and remarkably youthful in appearance.
Also, Walter got married in a purple tux, and he still has it somewhere. I want that fic now... Walter wearing the purple tux, trying to convince Peter that he needs to wear it in his marriage to Olivia. (That's the other thing: Walter is now quite the Olivia/Peter shipper.)
Peter once sold his grandfather's books, to spite Walter.
2.15 "Jacksonville" The episode that launched a LOT of shippy Olivia/Peter fics. I tried reading some of the post-episode stories. Most of them don't work for me, simply because this is a really big obstacle: another secret Olivia will feel bound to keep for now, and it's about Peter himself. Also, trying to kiss someone who looks all glimmery would be a bit... odd. Heh.
Oh, and the other stuff--well, Walter was a horrible human being (experimenting on children), which we already knew. Olivia once caused a not-insignificant fire with her mind, back when she was three or so and called Olive.
A whole building disappeared in New York! And they misspelled Manhattan in the looming letter thingies. The internet tells me I'm supposed to catch that as a clue that this is not our Manhattan. (The internet underestimates my belief in the pervasiveness of bad spelling.)
In other Fringe-related news, I'm writing Peter Bishop fic. Yes, really. There's already a Shakespeare reference. Possibly this is another sign of the impending end of the world(s).

We did not! In fact it seems like they went out of their way to imply it was her *without* showing her face, compared to the two guys who were 100% visible. The more I think about it, it could be red-herring shenanigans. (Actually it'd make a lot of sense if it was Sterling with them in the tape dressed as Rosie. It would sort of explain her behavior around them. /can't stop with the speculating)
Arrgh the CKR scene, I sense it's him I'm gonna end up annoyed with. :((
<3 Holder though. And Mitch just... consistently crushes my heart every week, gah.

I KNOW! I resent them for making me dislike him!
Hee, Holder. He's so utterly reprehensible, but I find myself not only interested, but sort of rooting for him? Though I'm curious what that little phone conversation at the beginning was about.
(Sigh. I need to renew my paid account. My icon choice is so small right now!)

It's a pretty dark show, definitely. We get time to see how death impacts the family of the victim, something not done much on shows like CSI, etc.
CKR isn't in a major role in this, but Michelle Forbes has a meaty part and is awesome.

But in this instance, the internet is right! AltVerse does spell it differently!

Good point about the wig. I'm not sure if Rosie was that person. And I'm not sure if the girl knew that both boys weren't just her boyfriend? That tape only muddied the waters. It didn't clear up anything.
Jamie seemed kind of sincere about being framed. Maybe the female assistant framed him. I don't trust her somehow.
The Larsen family. Sigh. Those little boys get me every time. :-(
The internet underestimates my belief in the pervasiveness of bad spelling.
Hee! That's the teacher in you!
Peter Bishop! Goodness. I couldn't stand him in season one. Soooo smug. I know you won't write him smug as he is. This is the beauty of fan fic, thank goodness. I do like how Peter takes care of his father. I love their relationship.

Smugness is all in the perception. (Well, so is everything.) If you like Walter Bishop, Peter does seem smug. If you think Walter Bishop is utterly reprehensible, completely crazy and rather terrifying even now? Peter just comes across as the voice of reason. (This is my theory, anyway. Works for me! Hah!)
And I'm not sure if the girl knew that both boys weren't just her boyfriend? That tape only muddied the waters. It didn't clear up anything.
Yeah, we don't get a complete picture at all from what we saw of the tape. (Which, um, is probably okay because UGH. We both know how I feel about high schoolers and sex. And that was a skeevy situation no matter what the age of the participants.)
Like you, I definitely don't trust Richmond's female assistant.

But in the beginning of Fringe I didn't know either of them. I fell asleep a lot. I didn't know that Walter was reprehensible. I don't think I really got the depth of that until I saw Olive burn that room on the tape in season 1. But even Walter seemed kind of shocked by it. He can't always remember the things he's done until it's brought up.
Still, Walter doesn't scare me. At least not present!Walter. He can still cause harm but I think his scariest days are past him.
Peter was the voice of reason but he was so impatient with the old guy. I liked when he had more patience and realized how smart his father was. Then things got better. For me, anyway. I still think Peter is smug but it's been dialed way, way down.
We both know how I feel about high schoolers and sex.
Oh, I don't know how you feel. But I can imagine. ;-) I don't like that people tape sex on their phones nowadays. It's tacky even if it's with people of legal age. And to tape an event that led to all that blood and Rosie's death? UGH is right.

Moving on: honestly, Peter had me from the first episode, when he couldn't bring himself to go inside that room in the mental institution to see his dad until he was forced to do so. To me that spoke of a lot more than just anger, it showed real pain.
Speaking of connections, though... I'm pretty sure the Peter Bishop I like is NOT the one the show is trying to get me to see. But Joshua Jackson is pretty and they haven't done much to show me his grifter bad-guy past; all they do is tell. Add in the father-son relationship flipped on its head and suddenly I'm a big fan. *shrug*
Quite possibly my Peter Bishop fic will
show my naked idhave him be much nicer than he actually is. I'm surprisingly okay with that.
