travel plans

Because work has been... work, I feel like I should remind myself (and you along with me) of the following summer plans:

*a trip to Washington D.C. to see baby brother and COOL STUFF IN D.C.! (my first visit!)
*a few days with my sister in Pennsylvania and her adorable numerous progeny
*time with my parents and middle brother in Oklahoma, and time with older brother in Kansas
*ONE WEEK IN MEXICO! AT THE BEACH!
*probable death of my poor garden while I'm gone on all these trips

If you feel so inclined, tell me what I should go see while I'm in DC. Eeeee, I'm so excited!

I really enjoyed the Spy Museum, so consider that highly recommended. :)

Oh my gosh, how much time to do you have in DC? There is SO MUCH stuff there it's not even funny.

Probably just four or five days, unfortunately. I'm already getting the idea that I won't be lacking things to do...

I'm from the DC area, though I can never think of fun things to do when people ask...but uh, I can tell you that my favorite museums are the American Indian Museum (bonus: has amazing food) and the National Gallery. Oh and for the non-Smithsonian (ones you have to pay for), I'm a big fan of the Corcoran Gallery and the Newseum. I also recommend the monuments (I think the best ones are Vietnam and FDR, though I guess Lincoln's is nice too). Um...the Holocaust Museum is an incredible experience, but only if you want to be depressed. If you like Shakespeare, the Folger Theater is really good. Oh, I like the Library of Congress too but I'm a dork...And if you're there in late June/early July you can't miss the Folk Life Festival since it's basically the coolest thing that happens in DC.

Ooh, definitely I'll put the American Indian Museum on my list, thanks.

Looks like I'll be there a bit too early for the Folk Life Festival. Too bad.
