common cold + Connie Willis = bad

I finally started reading Blackout by Connie Willis and the very first chapter has Colin's point of view. Apparently I'm supposed to remember Colin from Doomsday Book but I didn't, so I picked up my copy of that and skimmed the last few chapters and...

...and now I'm a blubbering mess. *sobs some more* I have a cold; crying is not what I want to be doing right now! Argh, Connie Willis, you make me care too much about your characters!

Out of curiousity, anything you'd especially recommend by Connie Willis? I'm going through a vague sickness thing this weekend too and, who knows, I might make it through the mammoth stack of DVDs, comics and Jasper Fforde books I already checked out. :)

To Say Nothing of the Dog is hilariously funny and mysterious at the same time: a time-travel mystery romance! With bonus kittens!

I quite liked Passage, although plotwise it's not as strong as TSNOTD. Plus: bawling one's eyes out while already sick is not fun. (It's not quite the cry-fest that Doomsday Book is, but it does have its moments.)

Bellwether is fun and shorter than the others.

I've heard good things about Remake; it's in my online shopping cart with amazon, since it's not available in my local library system.

Thanks! I've been looking for a good entry point and my library has most of these. :D
