TV and a movie

Parks and Recreation First off, I wrote a blurb for why I love Leslie Knope/Ben Wyatt and made ten fanfic recs.

Episode 4.13 had pretty much everything I could want: Ron Swanson being manly and resenting Tom's bowling success, Tom's hurt "fingy" (a casualty of Ron's jealousy), April fighting apathy in a desire to be mean (and then totally failing at following through because SHE HAS FEELINGS, SHE'S A REAL GIRL AFTER ALL!), Ben Wyatt punching a dude...

Okay, there has to be a gif somewhere of Ben punching that guy right? Because that was HILARIOUS! (Please link me to a gif of that. I waaaaaant one. Also, I hurt my fingy, y'all should be extra-nice to me. Okay, I didn't really hurt my finger.)

Oh, Leslie... heeee.

Once Upon a Time Tell me when I should start watching again, 'kay? I didn't make it through the episode.

Fringe "Forced Perspective" had a nicely enjoyable case of the week. Aside from her weird resemblance to Moaning Myrtle, I really liked the actress playing the teenager with visions of death. Her family was lovely as well. And Olivia had some compelling interactions with Nina, which SCARED ME SOOOO MUCH, ACK. Nina Sharpe is one of the most interesting characters on TV right now; I wouldn't want to meet her, though. EVER. Or for her to know my name or ANYTHING.

I enjoyed the case enough that I actually forgot until the episode was over that HEY, WAIT A MINUTE, WHY ARE WE NOT GETTING MY OLIVIA BACK YET?! (But then I remembered. Hence the all-caps. Original Olivia: accept no substitutions!)

Oh, hey, I saw a movie this weekend! The Artist is that black-and-white (mostly) silent movie that's been nominated for an Oscar. It is thoroughly charming, well plotted, and I found the character performances to be fascinating. Jean Dujardin deserves ALL the accolades, as does Bérénice Bejo. And the dog. I like how the movie worked as an homage to the old silent movies, and yet still had a story to tell of its own: a love story about passion for artistry.

Hah, PG-13 because someone flipped someone else the bird?! Oh, wait, maybe for that one bit near the end.

I'm pretty sure the rating was for the attempted suicide (esp the fake out) and maybe even general suicidal themes since he pretty much started drinking himself to death at halfway. Not really kiddie friendly, IMO, and certainly not in a quiet theater where you can't talk about what's going on.

But the movie was really fun! One of the few I've had a chance to see lately. (and the dog was esp precious!)

Yeah, I read more details about the MPAA rating, and it said something about "a disturbing image," which I assume was the gun in his mouth. (And yeah, the theatre where I watched was really quiet--no way you could offer an explanation/reassurance during the movie.)

That dog! I want a doggie like that...

Hee! Just picture her naked with Philip and maybe that's not so scary? Since Oz I have so seen Philip naked. I have seen so many TV men naked. :-) And I totally ship Nina/Philip. In all universes. :-)

OUAT was okay. I liked it mostly for Richard Schiff, though. Pity he's dead. I'm not sure if he was clueless or insensitive but he seemed to enjoy portraying the role.

Oh, DB. I don't want Nina/anyone, because she scares me. And I didn't feel that way until this season, but right now? She needs to STAY AWAY from, oh, everyone.

They killed off the king in the last episode? We knew it had happened, just not the details. Huh. *shrugs*

Nina was always rather terrifying to me. But I like it! She's not going to stay away, either. Not in this world. Don't you worry, Rose. Philip can handle her!

Oops! Is Snow White's father dying a spoiler? *zips lip*

Well, we knew SW's dad was dead. Just not how it happened. And I suppose it's technically a spoiler, but since I'm not watching anymore, I'm not at all bothered.

Leslie/Ben totally snuck up on me too. These guyyyyys <3 They're so realistic and relatable, surprisingly.

Also, can we keep -all- the Olivias? XD

Leslie/Ben and the whole P&R cast are my happy place every week.

I do want to keep all the Olivias! But definitely I need my Olivia back.
