links (Person of Interest)

First off, some links to stuff I've posted on tumblr this past month, all Person of Interest related. None of these posts are very long; tumblr is more about the pretty pictures.

Person of Interest = Two Batmans (Batmen?) (Gratuitously silly pic of Adam West included. He's holding a batarang!)

I’m watching the “Reese shoots guns and is intense and Carter arrests people and maybe shoots things too” show. The ridiculous(ly adorable) super-sekrit dates? Totally a bonus.
*sobs*

My disgusted review of someone else's review of an episode. Apparently these kinds of comments are a habit for this reviewer. (brief language alert at that link)

After blacktop50 pointed it out, I made two posts about Reese flirting with Carter via baby.

I'm still not sure I like tumblr enough to keep the account; it's fun, but the excess graphics cause problems even for my newer computer, not to mention how I'm still not that excited by endless posts of moving gifs. So I have hardly anyone on my watchlist there. Plus I really want to know this: how does Tumblr make any money?! Anyone have any idea?

Non-tumblr stuff, but still PoI. At some point I'll make another rec list, but for now, here's the Person of Interest fic tag from my online bookmarks. Most stories are on livejournal, but there are some from ff.net and AO3, so there may be something you haven't read yet. Mostly gen; characters listed in the tags and I tried to name relevant pairings in the descriptions. (My own stories are bookmarked there as well, because I like them.)

I don't think Tumblr actually makes money yet. I think it's at the stage where it has ridiculous investment, with anticipation that it will figure out how to make money once it's huge...so, soon. But I am not sure how these things work!

What makes me wonder especially about Tumblr is how much of the images on there are copyrighted. Is it really just going to slap some ads on everything and start making money, or will it have to be at all diligent about taking stuff down when that happens. Though at least with Tumblr, I'm not invested in any particular use; I use it, but if it died tomorrow, I wouldn't care. I might even be happy, if it would chase people back to posting on their journals. :)

I'm not really into Tumblr, certainly not enough to ever want to create my own, but yours is really cute. Especially the flirting posts. :-D

Thanks! Easy to make the flirting posts when it was all there onscreen. (That was one cute baby.)

I really have no idea about Tumblr makes money unless there's a lot more cash in the paid themes than we might think. Considering the server load for all those graphics, they obviously have money coming in someplace.

I find the photosets of animated gifs cool, but they make me so tired to see pages and pages of them with all the blinking flickering images.

And I followed you under my FYMTrucco persona - when I log in under lizardbeth, I'll switch it over.

I tried google to see if I could find out about Tumblr and finances, but didn't get any results. I wouldn't know what specific terms to use, though. *shrugs* It interests me in part because it turns out that Pinterest--another photo reblogging site, though different than tumblr--contradicts its own user policy in what it encourages its users to do with their service. Well, and just wondering how the heck they do get any profit.

Yeah, I like the animated gifs in moderation. Moderation is NOT a word that describes tumblr.

THAT DOCTOR WHO ONE. *cracks up so hard*

*snickers* Glad it wasn't just me who found the idea amusing.

I can't deal with the Carter hate in PoI fandom. Being critical of her character and how she's been handled, that's fine. She doesn't set your heart on fire, that's fine, too. But so much of it is clearly thinly veiled misogyny (like that review you posted), which hurts my soul.

Ugh, yes, IT HURTS ME IN THE FEMINISM. And that particular recap, I just... I don't even get how anyone can keep reading that kind of crap. We're mostly women here in fandom, WHY DO WE ENCOURAGE THIS?!

*uses grumpy Nicolas icon* (Heh, I have very few icons to use when I'm cranky. I'm not sure if I should remedy this or not...)

I will confess to lurking your tumblr from time to time. I don't think that's a site that I can afford to join (MASSIVETIMESUCK), so this girl won't be following you. But I do check in from time to time.

The other reason I won't be joining Tumblr (and the reason why I think that site won't last two more years) is the amount of pr0n on there. At some point, they're going to get themselves shut down for hosting so much X-rated content.

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, tumblr is definitely a time-suck. That would be the other reason that makes me wonder if I should keep using it.

As for X-rated content, getting shut down is entirely possible. I had one tumblr bookmarked to use in the classroom (one that I had thoroughly checked ahead of time), but then my school district blocked the whole site. Which is, frankly, a smart choice.

[identity profile] brickhousewench.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, do you teach? I spent two years in the classroom myself. High School English.

[identity profile] rose-griffes.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I teach--not English and longer than two years. ;-)

Though I will offer that I am on SPRING BREAK! And feeling extra-spammy and commenty on LJ and tumblr, apparently.

Possibly I should work on that to-do list a bit longer tomorrow...
