catching up on Fringe (and accidental SCC rewatch)

I seem to have accidentally started a rewatch of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I really didn't mean to, especially considering that IT'S NOT EXACTLY COMFORTING TV, y'know? Except that it is, with its amazing cast and its focus on Sarah and its fantastic story arcs and its MUSIC, OH I MISS GOOD SOUNDTRACKS and its EVERYTHING. Anyway, off to eat some dinner and start episode five (season one), but first I should post about catching up on Fringe...

4.19 "Letters of Transit" I like dystopian worlds in fiction. This wasn't a very good dystopia, though. Er, good isn't necessarily the word to use, but you know what I mean, right? That being said, I was still weirdly entertained. Henrietta interested me (I knew who she was because of accidentally spoiling myself on Tumblr), and hiiiiii Desmond! Er, Simon. Huh, William Bell is in the amber. Etta has a bullet that, as it turns out, does get explained.

4.20 "Worlds Apart" I always find it disconcerting how certain everyone is that they know what David Robert Jones' evil plan is. What if his plan is going to stop the Observers from taking over?

I was reminded of how very pretty all the Cortexiphan trial subjects grew up to be. Nick Lane in particular--I have a thing for blonds with light-colored eyes, and Nick Lane is really, really attractive. Anyway, we've now closed the bridge between the worlds. Probably not permanently, because this is Fringe.

now liveblogging as I watch:
4.21 "Brave New World, Part I" Spontaneous combustion is less flame-y than it used to be--which is good, because ick. Oh, hi, another Lostie! What was her name? The red-head that Daniel Faraday loved. Charlotte Lewis, that was it. Fringe's random British guest stars (with no explanation about their accents) make me giggle.

Olivia can punch via Peter now?! William Bell is obsessed enough with almonds that he used the place where he used to buy them as his new storage facility?! And AAAAAAASTRID, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. *infinite sadface* HOW COULD YOU, SHOW?!

4.22 "Brave New World, Part II" William Bell and his God complex. *eyeroll* Olivia doesn't want to talk about her newest super-power. Charlotte Lewis, aka Jessica, has been followed. Possibly by an Observer? Who is now stuck to the floor in Jessica's flat. Huh.

Astrid is alive! Oh thank goodness. Jessica is missing, as is a chunk of her floor. Peter and Olivia go to check out the Warehouse of Mystery. And there's the Observer and Jessica, and WHY DID I NOT GUESS that British guest star would not be what she seems?! Jessica has Evil Plans, and shoots the Observer with her super-fast gun--oh hey, an explanation for his gunshot wound!

I'm not a person who uses swear words often, but OH DAMN, bullet-grabbing Olivia. You were already a super-hero, but this is getting... interesting. September invokes timey-wimeyness and takes off, leaving Peter and Olivia to interrogate Jessica's dead body.

Okay, having just typed that last sentence, I'm now sitting here giggling.

Bell's God complex came from Walter Bishop? That doesn't surprise me somehow. Jessica's interrogation: huh, that is some freaky stuff.

So this is why Olivia has to die? To switch her off?

Nina: "You've had the power all along." Hee. Olivia is now Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Hah, I recognized the Yeats that William Bell was quoting. Innisfree.

Walter shoots Olivia. Fitting, somehow. And then Walter brings her back to live. Also fitting. Okay, technically the Cortexiphan did it.

Pregnancy news: not at all a surprise. And September shows up to tell Walter that they have to warn the others that they are coming.

Well. Caught up now. I can look at Tumblr's Olivia Dunham tag again. This is reminding me vividly of Lost and its crazy shenanigans toward the end; unsurprising, considering that some of the creative team is the same. This means that I will probably enjoy it, even while I lament the loss of... any sense-making. Hopefully the emotional resonance will make it worthwhile; that's what made me enjoy the finale of Lost.

And if I do dislike it, well... we'll always have season one and two Olivia. And parts of season three.

Unrelated to any of the above: hey livejournal, I would renew my account (and purchase extra userpics again) if your payment page was actually secure.

Hee, I just started a partial TSCC rewatch by accident too! Mostly it's because I'm lazy though--I saw some stuff on Tumblr that made me miss it SO MUCH and that made me want to vid it (more). But that seemed like effort, so I just started watching episodes. I still hope to transform the rewatch into vids!

Her name was Charlotte!

And yep, Olivia is totally a superhero. I just wish they'd stop killing her.

You can look at my liveblogs too if you want! I'll miss liveblogging more than watching the show, I think. ;-)

Hee! Funny how the off-the-wall shows are more conducive to the desire to liveblog, just because you know you're going to have wildly off-kilter things to say.

Heh. I dunno, I sort of need the build-up myself. Probably because I'm a Sarah fan first and foremost; I'm not sure...
