hey, wait a minute!
So most of you have seen the first and second rounds of promopics at
dryope's LJ. (If not, you should look! Everyone's so pretty! And I don't think they're spoilery except for who's in the pics... and if you pay attention to casting spoilers, you already know.)
Oh, the person who is there that I consider spoilery is Three/D'Anna. Guess boxing just doesn't last as well as we thought.
Where's Leoben? Where's Dee? Where's Cally? Where's Gaeta? But most importantly, where's Leoben?!?
Oops, Dee and Gaeta are in one shot in the first set.
As for cylons, Cavil and Simon and Doral aren't there either... but still! I want Leoben!
*whinyfangirl*
Ack, it nearly killed me at work today when all my co-workers wanted to talk about last night's episode of Lost and I had to shush them. Having watched it, dude... that was interesting. Next week looks to be even more interesting.
I've been thinking about why I don't like Kate. Or anyone else, really. *g* The 'biggest' characters on Lost seem to have this inability to see anything outside their own pain/lives/agendas. No self-sacrificing. No forgiveness for anyone else's alleged misdeeds. No mercy. Certainly some people in life have that tendency but most people are, arguably, a bit more altruistic than what we see in Kate, Jack or Locke.
It's interesting and a bit amusing to me that Sawyer actually seems to have more mercy/forgiveness (toward Kate) than Kate does for anyone at all. Poor Sawyer, getting slapped for his moment of truthfulness. Hee!
Hm. This little moment of thinkiness was probably prompted by Kate's attitude toward her mother in the flash-forward. Her actions are hitting my family button again--you don't mess up the family, Kate. I find that hard to forgive in a character. *g*
And now on to a few rambling thoughts.
Toddler Aaron was the blondest baby ever.
No Sayid? No Desmond! I want my crazy bearded Scotsman!
Jin and Sun! Practicing English! Oh, Sun, why would Jin want to go back to Korea?! All that awaits him there is more mobster work. I get why she feels the way she does, but still...
Wow, Evangeline Lilly is the tiniest woman.
At least there's a reason why Kate's not in jail in the flash-forwards.

I agree about Leoben. He should have got at least one pic. Maybe a group shot with all the 7 cylons would have been cool. At least Gaeta and Dee got a group pic in the first round.

I think that was deliberate... to show the time difference from island to later. Plus she would need to look mature for her courtroom time, for whatever that's worth.
I'm kind of proud that I guessed that her son would be Aaron.
Heh, I thought it might be, too, though the Sawyer pregnancy chats were a good distraction.
Hee, I love Locke too! And Ben! ♥
At least Gaeta and Dee got a group pic in the first round.
Aw, I forgot about that. *edits post*

Why was Sharon only in civilian clothing? Is it not Sharon, but 8?

Word. They're so insular and involved with themselves, it's hard to be invested in them when they're so invested in their own lives, if that makes sense.
On a side note, my friend and I watched together, and decided that there should be a new show starring Juliet, Sayid and Desmond, and they could rob banks and be criminal masterminds.
I'd watch that. It'd be far more interesting than Lost.

Yup. Sharon Agathon was posed with Helo in her uniform. Boomer was with Six and alone, in civvies.

Yeah, insular is just the right word. I'm fascinated by the plot of the show but don't feel any real connection to those principal characters.

OH! They could be the masterminds, and Six, Leoben, Kara and Sam could be the cops who track them down! It would be the coolest show ever!

I'd let Adama go, too, if he promised to be nice to Kara.

Sorry for the dearth of Leoben. :/ I wouldn't worry too much - CKR probably just has other projects - I doubt they would have bothered with Three if her very appearance wasn't a huge teaser. I'm sure at least head!Leoben will play a major part in the season, and actually since it's the last one they'll have to give closure to all of them, and he's the non-main cast Cylon with the most history (er, not counting the new ones), so, yeah. He'll be there!
I thought Dee and Gaeta looked intriguingly conspiratorial!
Good points about Kate. I couldn't help but think, "hey, when Kara's taking out her issues on the men in her life, at least they GET some." And I'm not crazy about Sawyer (let alone Jack), but I hate the way she treats him. And I know they all have issues, but I don't get anything more from Kate than "I can't have the toy I want right now so I don't care who I hurt." And like you I'm left wondering why anyone would love her - she doesn't have any
mad piloting skilzimportant redeeming qualities that balance out her selfishness, so I just don't sympathize with her. Which is too bad, because I think EL is pretty decent and could play a much more complex character. *possibly should take this essay to her own journal*no subject

YES, me too! I kinda have a thing for Gaeta/conspiracies, though. Mmm, Gaeta.

I like characters with shades of gray, but we're pretty much using the black crayon now. ;-)
go write that essay! y'know, if you want... 'cause I'd be interested

Other people are right. There has to be at least a bunch of Head!Leoben in S4, and from what spoilers about next season I've allowed myself to hear, it seems crazy that they would not have Leoben around to at least comment on it. So I am not that concerned. I suspect that he may not be a central plot arc, but he and Kara have history, especially regarding her destiny. There *has* to be some closure there. I mean, think about it: The last time they saw each other, she was running out of that apartment/jail cell on New Caprica. That's hardly closure.
I saw a Q&A thing with RDM a while back where someone asked him about Gaeta, and he said cryptically, "Big things for Gaeta in Season 4". And yet they've shoved Gaeta way to the figurative back of the promo spread, mixed in with the military crew, like he's an afterthought. So I don't know how much we can take from their decisions about who to show and not to show, and how prominently. I think the creators know who their big lead characters are and they focused their symbolic attention in the photo spread on those actors (like apparently, Head!Six and Baltar's new bedroom kink in S4 involves roleplaying Jesus and Hugh Hefner) to give us tantalizing hints about what's to come. But the rest, I think were just promo pics for the most part.
CKR probably just wasn't available, as he's a busy working character actor, as are the other actors playing Cylons. I imagine Dean Stockwell, for example, was busy doing some role somewhere not in Vancouver, and from what we've seen in the trailers, he's clearly got a role in how S4's events play out. He boxed Three, so there's no way he's not going to get some decent airtime for part of the season when she returns. Leoben will get airtime too. He's too interesting not to. :)

Bwahahaha!
I agree, Leoben will be around in one form or another during season four.
It would've been nice to see some pretty promo pics, though.

Yup, I'm not planning on meta anytime soon on how the season four promopics mean... anything. Though your theory about Hugh Hefner and religious roleplaying is highly amusing! Hee! (Yes, what was up with Baltar's wardrobe in those photos?!
