in which I ramble on about stuff I'm not going to do
I feel like I should post something meaningful, but instead I'm going to post this: a Derek/Jesse (Sarah Connor Chronicles) fanvid to Simon and Garfunkel's song "America" is a brilliant idea, yes or no?
I'm not hugely attached to Derek as a character, nor to Jesse, but they both have roles I appreciate in the show's narrative... and as a couple they BREAK MY HEART. Their story and the timey-wimey nature of some of their misunderstandings (hah, not to forget future John Connor's role in their troubles) are fantastic and add a lot of layers to the questions the show presents about time travel. Simon and Garfunkel's song, unlike Derek and Jesse's relationship, is relatively straightforward and linear. So I love the idea of playing against the sweetness and light of the song with Derek and Jesse's grief in both present and future. (Or as they would see it, past and present.) And then the end with the repeated lyric of "All gone to look for America" can have the post-apocalyptic shots interspersed with now...
No, I'm not going to learn how to vid. I'll just sit here and imagine it and psychically try and persuade someone to make it.
