because I make a better resistance fighter... er, writer
It's time for a post constructed of mostly unrelated topics!
1) I can't decide what to do about Spring Break this year, and I need to decide soon. Go visit my brother in Washington D.C. or stay here or do something else? (Ack, my passport expired?! Okay, D.C. is still doable, but not most of the Caribbean.)
2) Shakira's music sounds better in her native Spanish. I like Celine Dion's voice when she's singing in her native French, but not much when she sings in English. Anyone else do that?
3) I watched the first two episodes of Fairly Legal, that new USA network show with Sarah Shahi and Michael Trucco. Weirdly enough, I don't really like Kate. I'm not fond of the rushing around to do her job and ignoring her family. She annoys me more than she intrigues me, at least so far. Though I'm curious to see how much of this characterization will last, since Kate is mourning her father's very recent death. (It's the writing, not Shahi's acting. Shahi was fantastic as Dani Reese in Life.)
Kate's young widowed stepmother, on the other hand, interests me. I want more of her story--the company she now runs, how she's going to deal with her clients without a male front.
Michael Trucco plays Kate's ex, Justin. I don't really have many thoughts on his character so far, but TRUCCO! He is ridiculously attractive.
Those two episodes are the only ones available through USA so far, which means that I won't be watching unless they add more to their website. Sorry, Trucco.
4. More TV. Parks and Recreation may turn me into a rabid shipper. Leslie Knope is awesome (and a nerd). Ben Wyatt is a nerd and appreciative of Leslie's awesomeness. Therefore: LESLIE/BEN 4EVA!
Hee! I don't think about it much as I'm watching, to be honest. I like how the show has handled Ben's increasingly obvious crush, but it's okay if they don't date. Seeing them work together is fun and I actually laughed out loud at their identical reactions to Ron Swanson's horrifying revelations in the last episode.
With fanfiction, though, I'm quite happy to revel in those two as a couple. There hasn't been much yet, but I'm reading it anyway.
5. I've been rewatching The Plan this week while grading papers in a frenzy. I liked my own version of the (old) Caprica resistance better than what I've been watching on the DVD. [insert crankyface here] This makes it harder to write Sam and Jean fighting cylons. *sigh*

YES. I haven't been as interested in Kate and Justin besides the obvious hello pretty and cuteness (which for this show? Totally enough for me), but I *really* am fascinated by Lauren as a character. They do keep up with that storyline for her in the next couple episodes at least. Haven't seen last night's though.

Lauren, on the other hand... I'm glad there's more with her. When more episodes become available, I may well watch them.

I like Kate (and Justin) better as the series progresses, but Lauren is still kinda my favorite.
