Twilight links and other links
I'm sooooo tired. Just got back from Whole Foods Market. I've been meaning to go there for weeks to buy some tahini so I can try making my own hummus. I'm not sure how that ended up being fifty dollars worth of groceries. Oops.
Anyway... I have links. First Twilight. Remember how I once said maybe Meyer should have titled her novel The Vampire's Forbidden Virgin Bride? (What, you don't remember everything I post?!) Well, behold: The Vampire and the Virgin.
I... sort of want to read that.
Twilight: Breaking Dawn movie trailer has the most dramatic envelope ever.
Helen Keeble's thoughts about the Twilight series: They are so purely and unapologetically what they are that I have to admire Meyers for getting away with that (I like to imagine her slapping a huge wodge of cash down on her editor’s desk and declaring, “In my next installment of my series featuring chaste sparkly perfect boyfriends marketed at young teens, I shall damn well have a Caesarian-by-vampire-fang scene if I damn well want! And you will like it!“).
hee!
On to the mish-mash of other links...
Six Obnoxious Assumptions Hollywood Makes About Women.
Two Three Doctor Who links:
Doctor Who theme music as Belgian jazz, complete with French monologue about the Doctor. Hah!
Fanfic rec: that was just a dream by
such_heights. Massive spoilers for episode 6.11.
eta: another fic rec--and all our yesterdays. Great big spoilers for 6.10. (This is what I want for, um, the other Amy.)
Last but definitely not least: "cookie dough" dip. It uses chickpeas! Apparently delicious and sneakily sort of healthy! (I'm trying it sometime soon; I'll let you know. Soon is relative, since I'm cutting way, way down on sugar again. Just had my first 'relapse' but I blame Whole Foods Market and their dark chocolate yogurt. It was tasty and I regret nothing.)

Hummus! I don't love chickpeas at all but I've acquired a taste for certain hummuses. Like yogurt it will never be my favorite. Very acrid. Hey! Maybe you like slightly sharpish tasting things? I like falafel and I love making tahini, though. Making tahini is one of my favorite things. :-)
Sweets from whole foods don't count. I had some yellow cake from there recently and it was vegan. (Vegan cake is so heavy!) Took me a couple of days to eat one slice. I had no regrets. It was vegan!

I do like sharp and sour tastes, yes.
You make tahini? And... eat it plain? What do you do with it?

:-)
I love tahini! I make falafel from a box. So YUM. :-) On the box was a recipe for tahini. Lost the recipe. Found a few recipes online. The links died. So now I just make it up from my head. Sometimes I put too much garlic. It's a fine balance of water, lemon juice, salt, garlic and sesame tahini.
Now, I don't make the sesame tahini itself though I've been on the verge several times. I just know it might mess up my blender. And store-bought is like ultra smooth. YUM. :-)
ETA: You dip the fried (or baked) falafel in the tahini. Oh, it's so good. :-)

Ah, got it. I don't have any strong feelings about falafel, so... *shrugs* Not that I've had it often, but none of those culinary experiences were particularly memorable.

I wish I could make you falafel sometime. It's really good. I've only made it from a box, never had it in a restaurant or off the street or anything. And you'd love tahini! It's kinda tart and though not dairy, it's creamy. I think you'd like it!
