TV: Missing; also several fanfic recs (various fandoms)
I watched the pilot episode for Missing online. So I'm already watching the Jim Caviezel is an unrealistic badass show (Megan's description of Person of Interest). Totally willing to add the Ashley Judd is an unrealistic badass show to the roster. Plus: Europe. Plus: ex-spies whose past won't let them go! PLUS! ASHLEY JUDD BEATS PEOPLE UP.
The first few minutes are... not shaky, just trying to establish a lot that will only matter in passing later. (She loved her husband, he loved her, and then Sean Bean is out of the picture.) It picks up a lot when we get to the heart of the story: a mother looking for her son.
Side note: Judd's French accent is quite good. She doesn't have the typical American speaking French flaws.
I'm on board so far. Hopefully this show isn't done by Warner, the company that has made it so difficult to get episodes of Person of Interest. (Difficult enough that I may have to wait and watch season two of PofI on DVD months later, since Big Brother will officially be watching our internet usage starting this summer.) I still can't believe that Warner won't even offer episodes for legal sale online the next day.
Moving on. It's fic rec time!
Doctor Who
That's How You Came Here, Like a Star Without Name: River's time in the library. Spoilers for season six. PG, 2300 words.
A Game of Equals: River/Eleven AU in which she's an international jewel thief and he's Agent 0011. Background Amy/Rory, Mickey/Martha, others. I liked this AU scenario a LOT, and that's definitely not my usual preference. R/NC-17; 94,000 words. (I read it over several days.)

Parks and Recreation
With You, I'm Brighter: Ann/Tom. I KNOW. Go read it anyway. PG, 1500 words.

Fringe
Quantum Entanglement: Set in amber-verse, travels backward in time to red-verse early season three, mentions blue verse, ends in amber-verse... or that one time Peter Bishop was totally confused. I really liked this in all of its timey-wimeyness. Peter, Lincoln, Olivia, etc. PG, just over 7000 words.

Person of Interest
Pooja's New Tiffin Wallah: Reese's landlady takes action after 1.17. Thoroughly charming. G, 2000 words.
A Choice of Poisons: Finch's POV as he worked with (and pined over) Ingram. PG, 2500 words. (Steph, you would probably enjoy this; you mentioned seeing Finch as being romantically interested in Ingram once.)
Dark-Haired Beauty: Reese POV after 1.17 about Leila, but also fills in some backstory. PG, under 600 words.

I thought her French sounded good! I wish I knew if her Italian was. Hmm.
I don't understand how Big Brother will watch us. But I hardly vid any current shows anymore and since MU ended, barely dl anything. A lot of shows have eps streaming and that works if you have a fast computer. If you don't, it sucks. I even found movies streaming online. Would that be watched and then what? I thought they were only watching torrents. I'm sure the masses will find a way. For now, streaming works for me. Are they watching the whole world or just the US? I'm not above having overseas friends burn things on to DVD for me. How crazy is that? I must have my TV!
Won't even sell episodes? Seriously? I'd stop watching. Granted, I always preferred to watch things broadcast and now you kind of have to. I don't mind that. I don't miss the good shows when they air and never really did.
How will Big Brother watching affect you? And what happens if you miss an ep of PoI? Are you totally screwed?

*laughs* Yeah, I was curious about her Italian as well. But if her French was good, then it's a hopeful sign for her Italian?
And I just now figured out that her pretending not to know what her son said in Italian over the phone was indeed confirmation that she didn't tell him (much?) about her work history. Interesting...
Here's more about Big Brother watching: File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US. (hhttp://www.digitaltrends.com/webnews/major-isps-turn-into-copyright-police-by-july-says-riaa/) More at the link.
What remains in question is exactly how the ISPs will know if a customer is downloading copyrighted content illegally. How are they going to be monitoring? That hasn't been established/explained, as far as I know. Creepy.
At this point I cannot watch PofI without an online source; my town is too far from the big cities with TV stations to get good reception. (It's on the backside of a hill, which makes things worse.) So... I may just not watch anymore. I'm not sure why Warner Co. has chosen to eliminate legal online watching of any/all kinds. The first few episodes of PofI were, in fact, legally available on the CBS website, but then they were removed. Does Warner really think that people will purchase cable/satellite with them for a few select shows? I certainly won't.
*sigh* Ah well. Yay, Missing. I checked; not a Warner production, so hopefully I'll be able to keep watching it.

There were some really good logistical questions brought up in the comment to the original article about implementing 'Big Brother'. My favorite observation was if some ISPs can't afford to upgrade their infrastructure to provide faster internet service as things are, how can they afford this? Maybe they can but it was an interesting point.
Someone in the comments explained about the bytes and how they monitor but also explained that the things that alert the ISPs to illegal downloading could also be other web traffic or legal downloading. It was confusing. :-/
That's sad about Person of Interest! You made a comm and everything! Not even on Hulu? That's very strange. But you can watch it streaming on CBS, right? I watch The Good Wife that way and The Big Bang Theory when I miss an ep.

Nope. At first yes. But now, no. And that's Warner's decision; one reason they gave was something about preserving syndication values, which... makes no sense, since syndication happens years later, and me watching online legally now isn't going to affect that at all.
And yes, it's very disappointing. I'll have to work on detaching myself from the show over the summer... maybe stop following the comms I helped make. :( Or maybe the season finale will be terrible? *laughs bitterly*

Right, I agree. I buy Fringe through Amazon and download it to watch; is the ISP going to be able to tell the difference? Will I get a warning for legal purchases?

I hope it become available for you somehow. And a part of me wonders what are the real consequences to downloading anyway. Not to you, but some people will try it. I'm curious.

I'm really wondering as well; I download short videos from Youtube all the time to use at work, because that way I don't have to wait for the video to buffer or risk the chance of a less-appropriate commercial. Is that going to 'count' for the purposes of spying on our internet use?

Looks like my cable company (Comcast) has Missing on OnDemand. Maybe I'll find time to watch it. It's up against Big Bang Theory, so I'll have to watch it time delayed.
