a five-item update
1. How did I manage to get two episodes behind on Parks and Recreation? And no time to watch either of them before tomorrow. (In part because I'll be watching Person of Interest tonight.)
2. I've seen the movie Life of Pi twice in movie theaters in the last two weeks. It's gorgeous, both for its visuals and the narrative. Bravo to whatever person out there chose Suraj Sharma for the lead, because he did a beautiful job. (The movie is already on DVD, but it's also playing at the last-run theater a couple of suburbs away.)
3. I may try reading the book someday, but I want to wait a while. The story via movie was so complete and thought-provoking that I don't want to replace that vision with the author's... not just yet.
4. Currently in the top spot for most delicious sandwich: hummus and avocado. Messy but delicious.
5. My current plan while dealing with depression: "There is one goal, and only one goal, and that goal is to get out of bed on time." It's actually been very helpful. Maybe more on that front later, but I wanted to mention it before forgetting to post anything. My livejournal feels neglected lately.

Yeah. It is strange. If you follow the tags, it's like any other forum - full of wank and kerfuffle. I.e. not for me. But if you stay on your dash within a well chosen group of people, you can avoid the wank just like in other forums. The problem is that it's not useful contact you get with the people you follow - in that respect it can't hold a candle to lj/dw. I am sad that there is nothing as active as lj anymore these days where you can find your own quiet little corner.
Oh well. I enjoy tumblr nonetheless.
I'm not sure why I responded to those posts about Elementary, since it's rare for me to do that. They just irked me enough and nobody else was saying what I wanted said.
I noticed that you seem to be using it very differently from me. I only use it to 'collect' art (by reblogging). I almost never try to interact with anything that comes by, because I don't feel a connection to the things that come by and I tend to think the people who follow me won't be interested in what I have to say anyway. It's not a close-knit group. It's okay as long as I don't expect anything from it, and as long as I don't try to keep up with the tons of stuff that come by.
That said, I once replied to some cockles posts, too. Not that it helped. //)
Ironically, I'm about to log out of Tumblr for at least a couple of weeks, since I'll be away from the computer most of that time. Yay, summer travel!
Awesome! Enjoy your vacation!
Interesting SPN post. I don't watch the show, but there's a lot that I pick up from fannish osmosis. It's impossible to avoid stuff about the show, frankly. Heh.
Yeah, true. I just skipped everything, even though I was very into it four years ago. But now that it sucked me back in, I am lapping up the meta. And there's lots of it right now because the fandom is so excited about Destiel maybe going canon. I always like meta, so that's right up my alley.

I had to use google to figure out what you meant. Oh, fandom... *sigh* As for not helping, yeah... I haven't exactly noticed a downturn in stupid stuff people say after I "helpfully" pointed out the error of their ways. Or if they do change, there's another round of stupidity coming around the corner to fill in the space.
