Last recap! Ultraviolet 1.06 'Persona Non Grata'. Whew! Up next: I try to write Angie/Vaughan fic. We have a few days of standardized testing coming up soon-ish, so maybe I'll actually manage to write some. Motivation: there isn't any out there that I can find. (Why no Angie/Vaughan fic, world? WHY?!)

Other TV: I wonder if I'll manage to catch up on Fringe, Community and Missing before the next episodes arrive?

Random videoclip link from a Doctor Who fanfic posting: Who knew chess could be so sexy? (Clip from the original The Thomas Crown Affair, a film I have clearly been remiss in not watching. Never saw the remake either.)

No Person of Interest until tonight at the earliest, unless someone else wants to change that. ;-) In the meantime, here's the recap for Ultraviolet 1.05. This episode has one of my favorite scenes. In other words, you should click on the link because there are pictures of Idris Elba looking souful as he stares death in the face.

Hm. Watch last night's Missing or run errands first? Or watch that DVD I need to send back to Netflix? (Or take a nap? That sounds rather tempting right now...)

I was on my way home from a friend's house around dusk this evening and I saw a coyote just hanging out near the side of the road. Whoa. I knew they lived in the area, but I've never actually seen one in town. "In town" is a bit misleading for this sighting--I was passing through a fairly undeveloped area on the edge of the city.

I watched a bit of TV over the weekend and during the first half of this week.

Community: I never realized how tragic "Eat Fresh" could be.
Fringe: Lincoln Lee makes the best facial expressions.
Ultraviolet: I don't know if I can write a reasonably objective recap with Angie and Vaughan breaking my heart.

Yes, I rewatched 1.05 last night. Such an awesome episode! I'll write the recap tomorrow. In the meantime my brain is entertaining the idea of writing post-series Angie/Vaughan fic again. Who knows, maybe I'll actually write some this time. FOR THE GREATER GOOD, since there isn't any out there.

Yikes, time to turn off the computer. Been playing catch-up on some things and delving without any real reason into others. Here's the round-up from this weekend.

My recap of Ultraviolet 1.04 'Mea Culpa'. If you're wanting to catch up on the rewatch, it's not like these posts are going anywhere...

Person of Interest: spoilery for 1.18 'Identity Crisis' )

On to my other fandom with an ex-CIA agent with implausible skills: I put a review of Missing 1.03 on Tumblr. Eh, I'll just repost it here.

Okay, so while I was wasting time on Tumblr, someone pointed out spoilers for Fringe 4.15 )

Some links to stuff (some of which I wrote):
* My recap of Ultraviolet 1.03 'Sub Judice'. It's the "Vampires want babies?!" episode.
* Poco linked to the Not my ship comment ficathon, so I looked around at the lovely short stories...
* ... and then I wrote some Faith/Wesley post-finale fic. I've never written Angel or Buffy fic before, so that was unexpected. Also, Wes is a W&H-made zombie. Oh, and Faith expresses herself colorfully, so consider this your warning.

I finally finished reading Inheritance, by Christopher Paolini. spoilers for the four books in the series )

Non-spoilery reason to read: Nasuada is awesome. And Arya. And Angela. In other words, if you can make it through book one, which is strictly Eragon's POV, there are more women involved in the story, and they're vital to the plot.

TV: Ultraviolet 1.02 "In Nomine Patris" recap. I was in a hurry when I wrote it, so it's a fairly straightforward summary of events.

While I was visiting friends at the end of Spring break, I ended up watching Once Upon a Time 1.15. spoilers )

I saw a commercial for Missing while watching OUaT, and I'm curious enough to check it out at some point. Former spies seem to be a thing right now, yeah? I'm okay with this theme.

Speaking of that, I'll post Carter/Reese kiss and not make up fic tomorrow morning.

Here's my recap of Ultraviolet 1.01 'Habeas Corpus'. Y'all should go there and tell me what things I totally missed because I'm not British and because I have a pair of Angie/Vaughan shipper glasses welded to my head.

Either tomorrow or Thursday I'll post a recap of episode one of Ultraviolet. And it will be a week before the next post, which means you have lots of time to catch up! And why exactly should you make an effort to watch random 1990's British TV? I'm glad you asked... except for how I should be working on that to-do list, so this is going to be quick.

Since bsg_epics was asking about fandom pairs we like and why, here, have a post I started a few weeks ago and then forgot about. Probably because I was writing Zoe Morgan/John Reese fic again. (Heh.)

Okay, here's my tentative schedule for rewatching Ultraviolet. One episode per week, and I'm aiming for Wednesday or Thursday posts, which leads to this:

8 March "Habeas Corpus"
15 March "In Nomine Patris"
22 March "Sub Judice"
29 March "Mea Culpa"
5 April "Terra Incognita"
12 April "Persona Non Grata"

If anyone wants to head up a post and recap an episode instead of me, feel free to volunteer. I'm not planning anything fancy for my own posts: a short overview of events and information, a few of my thoughts... maybe a picture or two if I'm feeling really ambitious. The posts will go on the uvfics comm, but I'll make sure I link to them from my LJ.

Speaking of that, I'm turning off comments here; if you want to sign up for an episode, ask me a question, or whatever, head over here.

My favorite BBC mini-series/short season show is now available to watch on hulu.com! So everyone should watch the six episodes of Ultraviolet and enjoy the pining and repressed feelings and vampires and pseudo-science and... stuff! Good stuff! Actiony stuff! The first episode starts here.

And then you should write me Angie/Vaughan fic. Hey, Vaughan is played by Idris Elba. (See userpic.) What more do you need to know?!

Oh, and Jack Davenport is in it, too. And the woman who played Jane Bennett in the Collin Firth version of Pride & Prejudice. Also, this is Stephen Moyer's vampire debut. He was in this more than ten years before his role in True Blood.

Okay, enough rambling about that.

Okay, everyone, listen up! Battlestar Galactica is being ignored and I don't like it! I'm talking about [livejournal.com profile] crack_van. Looks like [livejournal.com profile] frolicndetour gets to make recs for January, but there's no one else signed up after that! My last turn was just in July 2009, so I don't think I should sign up just yet. Go here to sign up for a turn. It's not that hard, really! And I'm happy to be bossy about how to do it correctly help out, if needed.

I have some fic recs, and I was thinking of you as I compiled them. This doesn't mean you have to like them--people have different tastes in stories.

for [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns: Ultraviolet fic recs. Still no Angie/Vaughan that I've found, alas. But here are five gen stories I quite like. back here )

For [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell, a Gaius POV ficlet that maybe you've never read? I quite enjoyed it: Children of the Gods, by [livejournal.com profile] shaychana. Him, head!Six, Gina, Caprica... for a short fic it has a lot to say. Written sometime during season three, I believe.

For [livejournal.com profile] grimorie (and all other Life fans): Conversations Neatly Placed in Tired Mouths , by [livejournal.com profile] piecesofalice. Also in this year's Yuletide archive--and that's such an overwhelming place, I thought maybe some of you might need a little help to get there. This story is Dani's POV about Charlie and Ted. Lovely gen piece. (I'm still looking through the archives myself! But there are TEN Life stories just for this year's Yuletide, so it will be great fun to sort through that!

For [livejournal.com profile] njborba--I think you prefer to write fanfic rather than read it, but this story in The Pretender fandom has Broots, his daughter Debbie, Miss Parker and Jarod. Plus it ends with a brief (fade to black) steamy Miss P/Jarod interlude. untitled, by [livejournal.com profile] juliefortune. (General warning--does contain non-specific references to child endangerment/molestation.) Too many of the old archives with fic from this show have disappeared; it's frustrating.

For anyone who likes both The Pretender and 30 Rock, [livejournal.com profile] piecesofalice has written a crossover fic with those two fandoms. Yes, really. This Is Going To Get Weird, Isn't It. *giggles* It is GREAT!

For [livejournal.com profile] siljamus: finding shippy fics that you haven't already read is hard! So... I have a mostly gen Ironman fic with a side of unrequited Tony/Pepper--also humorous kidnapping (really!) and banter. That Time with the Dobermans (and the Hole in the Wall), by [livejournal.com profile] mspotts.

My other attempt for Silja: Earth Girls Are Easy, a BSG/ER crossover story with Felix Gaeta/Lucy Knight. (She was the pretty ash-blonde med student on ER who was killed by a crazy patient. [livejournal.com profile] rap541 decided to give her a better ending.)

Coming up next: I try to fulfill some people's actual wish list requests by figuring out (again) how to upload music to sendspace.com or whatever site I used last year... Wish me luck!

NOOOOO! The fourth season of (new) Doctor Who isn't available (yet?) for livestreaming through Netflix! This means I'm going to have to actually send back Ultraviolet disc two in order to watch more DW.

That does it. I'm buying Ultraviolet. So I can research and write Angie/Vaughan fic. And maybe Angie-Frances friendship fic. And oh, how about Vaughan interacting with Rose March, who is wanting to know his intentions toward her mother?!

I just added [livejournal.com profile] spock_uhura to my LJ reading list the other day. Do those people ever stop posting? I wanted more fic, but this is ridiculous. (Okay, how sad is it that I'm complaining about too much fic. Apparently I'm just determined to be unhappy, y'all! And hey, why isn't there more activity at the [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha comm? See? I cannot be pleased!)

Go read [livejournal.com profile] taragel's new Kara fic, Faith Like Wings. It's beautiful. (Sort of an episode insert for 'Maelstrom' and totally awesome/sad.)

Okay, so guess what I'm busy doing during one of my last days of freedom before the work grind begins again: cleaning? writing? making cool beaded jewelry? NOPE. I'm asking Mr. Google for Twilight links in order to write the long-dreaded anticipated post about the series and my religion. Why am I mentioning this now when the post probably won't be done for ages? Because I had to share a sentence I stumbled across. One person's joking reaction to the horrid way in which Stephenie Meyer altered (hee, I almost wrote altared) the vampire mythology (at least, I assume it's joking):

I am personally disgusted and offended that fictional creatures like vampires have been further fictionalized by fiction writers into fictional representations so fictional from their former fiction that they're no longer anything but fictional.

*laughs forever*

I, uh, have nothing else to say after that.

I was rewatching Ultraviolet (episodes 4-6 only, since the first disc is already back in Netflix's tender care) and... I own shippy goggles. I didn't know I had them, but I do. Angie/Vaughan! He's pining, y'all. PINING! And she's repressing it! I had no idea I could be so enamored of a (totally unrequited) romantic pair on an ensemble show. Everything that happened is now subject to interpretation of how it affects Angie/Vaughan. IS THIS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PAIR?!?! Gah! I'm glad I didn't know I had shippy goggles before now--what a pain!

For a summer that wasn't going to include much travel, I sure did travel a lot. June: four days of camping, then two weeks of travel, including Niagara Falls, Quebec City and Pennsylvania. July: a week-long teaching conference (within my state, but at a touristy destination), visits with the family and an old high school friend... I haven't been home much (er, where I live now, I mean). Now that August is here, I'm busy planning school stuff. I have a two-day presentation to prepare for, a brief break, then back to the grind of teacher inservices (taught by other people) before students finally come back.

Where did my time go? Oh yeah, to traveling. Heh. No wonder I haven't added much to my 2009 book list.

Anyway, here's an update on fannish things (aka movies/TV and writing/reading related to it) (spoilers for the trailer for BSG's 'The Plan'):
not a lot to say... )

I've watched stuff! I'm so impressed with me! You can assume spoilers behind each cut, though it's mostly me blathering about my reaction.

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] beatonna's awesome comic Get me off this freaking moor!, I watched the BBC version of Anne Brontë's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. So brooding! )

Another BBC production: Ultraviolet, a six-episode mini-series done in shades of grey--not literal, just figurative. I'm so confused--which are the bad guys again? )

I actually saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the day it opened in theaters. (Geek cred re-established for another year!) It was late enough in the day that I had to ask three different people not to talk about it (please!) while I was near. Apparently I know a lot of other geeks. Realistically speaking, that hot waitress wouldn't have been interested. )

In non-TV/movie news, I'm rereading a novel that should be titled Young Sociopaths in Love. (I'm just giving this as a hint about my general reaction, DB!)
